I'm curious what programs others here are using to run their small photography business. Thanks in advance for any input provided!

Excel spreadsheet and Word or its equivalent and presentations for flyers and cards.
KISS principle - Accountant works with MS Office. So does 90% of businesses and Bureaucrats.
Looked at quickbooks but
I do not need stock market updates
I have no employees requiring payslips.
I do not issue cheques.
Do not want any programme having direct access to my bank!

We are 'Small Jobs' a small 'trading as' partnership not a company.

UK Tax Office (when they used to come and help you !) Recommended to keep simple accounts that were easy to access and read. Income, Expense, Balance - Invoices and Receipts in an envelope marked with the month's totals !!!.

Bank had some handy software that auto totalled Excel and had useful ideas as to what other headers one needed - This was simple to set up in any case - but good for ideas. Talk to your Bank when you set up your business account.

Since added a breakdown of petty cash and purchases etc You can link worksheets so that you can breakdown any account line as needed!

You can auto copy cells from one year to the next so have a new clear workbook for each year very quickly. All the Auto-sums remain embedded.

Plus I bought an ink less business stamp (vista-print) and a plain carbon less copy invoice book and receipt book. (new ones every year) Stamp and write....!

Our copy of accounts + Accountants Copy + Inland Revenue Tax forms in an envelope for each year in a fire proof tin file box. Buy Big Brown Envelopes.

Been in business since 2001 (none photographic) No issues.

No doubt you will need to add a photo list and customer list so that you do not sell a image twice (?) or to keep track of whose images are whose..... Guess LR would do that or a simple OS file as long as you can label them in a sensible way.

Spend your energy working not book keeping! Fancy pie charts and future profit forecasts do not pay the bills.

Good luck

Are you talking about keep inventory? Keeping monetary books and doing taxes? Doing marketing pieces? There are lots of facets of "business," and in order to suggest a software we need to know exactly what you're wanting to do.

Office 365
FileMaker Pro
Quicken/Quickbooks
Lightroom/Photoshop/Bridge
Photos
Affinity Photo
Graphic Converter
SilkyPix SE
Epson Scan
iMovie, iDVD, Final Cut Pro X
Garage Band

I use a lot of other stuff, too, including MacOS with Windows running on Parallels Desktop.

I couldn't live without FileMaker Pro.

As a retired CPA and CFP if you have to ask that type of business question on this site you may have a small problem.
