Well in a few more days we will have made it. The problem is trying to figure out how to Celebrate it. When we hit our 25th Silver, we did it really big and it was Fantastic. So this time we decided to do something kinda simple.
We decided to drive the Coast from Los Angeles to Vancouver Canada. Thru all the rain of Oregon and Washington to Canada and spend our 50th in Vancouver. This way I can take all of my Camera gear with me and I mean all of it. It should be fun..

Congratulations, apparently being an April fool can be a good thing. Just don't leave your gear in the vehicle and get it stolen!

I wonder if you will have any trouble at the border upon your return? No wait you're a middle agd white guy you'll have no trouble. Here is hoping your wife doesn't have any connection with middle eastern countries.

Amen!
Wonderful sights all along. Hope you can see Mt.Saint Helens. And Oregon coast by Newport.

Avoid Seattle, and stick to the Olympic Peninsula. Ferry to Vancouver Island and visit Victoria, then on to Vancouver BC.

All you'll see in Seattle is drug addicts and drunks. Much nicer staying on us 101

Rick (Seattle for 29 years)

On Edit: Rick types faster! But, I've got him beat. I was born in Seattle in 1946 and lived in the area 70 years (except for when the Navy owned me).

Congrats! I'm not far behind.

I have a suggestion. Drive up the coast and clockwise around Olympic National Park. Stop at Port Angeles and take the Black Ball ferry to Victoria. Victoria scores higher on all things romantic over Vancouver.

You can take a different ferry to Vancouver and participate in the hateful ride through both Vancouver's and Seattle's traffic for your trip home. Or, you could go back to Port Angeles and drive south avoiding the misery entirely. One route takes you across the amazing Hood Canal Floating Bridge followed by our twin suspension bridges at the Tacoma Narrows.

Happy 50th Anniversary. Going to Vancouver, British Columbia from Los Angeles should be an exciting trip. I've traveled to Seattle twice, and never made it to Vancouver. I've seen photos of the city, and it is beautiful. Enjoy your trip. It probably will be raining in Washington. Both trips to Seattle by me, just 6 months apart, had raining weather. Enjoy your trip, and protect your camera gear from rainwater.

Happy 50th anniversary. Vancouver, I'm proud to say is one of the most beautiful cities in the world as far as setting goes. If you have time, do go to Victoria, on Vancouver Island. It is the capital of British Columbia and an older, more sedate city than Vancouver. Vancouver is a younger, more energetic city that bustles with energy. Don't expect nice weather in either place. It will be about 50 degrees F in the middle of the day and much cooler at night. Chances of rain are pretty high at this time of year. If you make it to Vancouver Island, I definitely recommend a trip to Tofino on the west coast.

Congratulations! The Oregon coastline is spectacular. If you're into lighthouses, you'll have ample opportunity for some great captures.
