Olympus OMD EM10. I like the overall feel, the size, the lens options( Zuiko and Panasonic)and the results. It's light weight, can fit in a jacket pocket with a "pancake" prime lens. And it doesn't break the bank. Try before you buy.

In my experience, the shutter-shock issue with the GX8 is bogus. I would not discourage anyone from purchasing a GX8 for this alleged problem. It is an ill-deserved knock on the camera.

"The GX8 has better video, but the Pen F doesn't have shutter shock issues." I beg your pardon. My GX8 does not have shutter shock issues. If I took the worst lens, the made the worst settings choices, took pictures of test patterns hand held and examined the images at 300%, a tiny bit of fuzziness might be there. I don't know for sure, because doing that is time wasted.

Panasonic "solved" the shutter shock issue with a firmware tweak after numerous review sites reported it. The firmware automatically switches the camera to electronic shutter mode for those speeds that are subject to the effects of the shock. The ONLY downside of this is that if you pan the camera to photograph fast action, you get "rolling shutter effect" (car wheels turn oval, and telephone poles lean)... That's the same rolling shutter effect you get with video on all mirrorless and dSLR cameras.

You can turn off the electronic shutter for those speeds, but then you get some shock. I think the speeds are between 1/60 and 1/320 second. Slower, or faster, you won't see it. Electronic shutter on, you won't see it.

Buyers of the GX8s made after the fix won't notice shutter shock at all, because the fix is on by default. If you update firmware on the oldest GX8s, the fix is also on by default.

Lighter, faster and quieter than a DSLR. IQ is just as good as a DSLR.

I am also a very avid Olympus fan. Three yrs ago I traded my Canon full frame 6D for a Panasonic GX7 which lasted about eight months when I bit the bullet and bought the Olympus omd 5 MkII which I loved: until the omd 1 MkII came out last month. I love it: Olympus really learned from experience. This camera is a gem. But the real advantage of Olympus is their lens selection: you can buy from their 'consumer' selection at very good pricing or from their 'pro' list. Personally, I have 6 of their lens of which five are the pro version.
Not only is the 1MkIi body very well constructed, grip friendly, but the software is extensive but easy to remember and use. Finally the newly designed battery has 2.5 times the capacity of their previous ones.
Fortunately we live in Minneapolis where a privately owned camera company with 4 outlets has been going for many years: they are professionals and their pricing equals Amazon, etc. They have been a godsend for me over the past 28 years.
Sony was my other consideration but their lens selection was limited.
Olympus can also use Panasonic lens of which I have one.

Can't go wrong with Olympus mirrorless 4/3. I purchased one initially, tried it for couple of weeks. Pleased with performance, but exchanged for Panasonic GX8, mainly b/c has a bit more heft, felt better in my hands, which are small. Tilting OLED viewfinder and 20MP sealed deal. Happy with Panny. BYW, new XL10 compact is awesome!

Sony A6300 with 35mm lens (much better choice than the 16-55 kit lens) and 55-210mm lens. Switched to this after being a Canon user for many years, but I can still use all of my Canon lenses with the Metabones adapter. Yes, it's $400, and there are cheaper choices, but if you want better compatibility (and faster autofocus) you spend a little more. Main reason for change was weight, and Sony sensor envy! Does a lot of what my Canon does, but the Canon's still a Full Frame sensor, so better low light and better bokeh than the Sony, if that matters to you.

That's the only lens I took to Florida this year with the Sony a6000 and I got some great pictures without having all the weight issues to contend with since we flew down...but hey, I actually got a great shot with my iPhone 7 when I was walking the dog and didn't have my camera with me.

Is anyone using a mirrorless camera? If so which one, and what do you love about it. If not and you know about them, please chime in. I don't ask for much do I. I would like this body purchase to be my last for the next few years.

Thanks.

Three, two digital (Leica M-D 262 and Leica M Monochrom) and one film (Leica M5).

I love them for that gorgeous Leica glass and the coupled rangefinder focusing (no autofocus here). VERY expensive, no automation, but a treat to use.

On 17/12/16 I part exchanged my 2 x Olympus EM1 bodies for a single Olympus EM1 mark II and it is stunning. The AF is fast and accurate and I am able to achieve a high percentage of bird in flight keepers. The Pro Capture (available in full RAW) mode is just brilliant and 18fps simply fantastic. Battery life is incredible and I regularly take over 1000 shots with less than half the battery used up. The IBIS is the best available and the lenses are numerous and beautiful. Check out the Olympus E-M1II Facebook page for comments and images from numerous users. I almost bought a Fuji X-T2 but I am really pleased I bought the EM1 mark II instead.

As an Olympus user I am also more than happy with my omd 1 MkII.
However, I only shoot in Raw and neither Lightroom nor my trusty Apple Aperture have updated their Rawformats to the new Olympus.
Do you shoot in raw and if so whT software do you use for post processing?
Thanks

Doesn't Olympus supply some raw viewing/conversion software with the camera like every other camera manufacturer? Use that to convert to 16-bit TIFF or DNG or PSD.

You are correct and I am using Olympus Viewer 3 but the process is cumbersome in that I download to Olympus and then export to Aperture for processing.
Aperture and Lightroom, I am sure, will catch up!

Check for Lightroom update. I updated mine last week and it now will import the .ORF files from the EM-1 mkII. I'm liking the oly more every day! Hope you are enjoying yours as much!

I assume comment that "Aperture will keep up" is tongue-in-cheek. Apple abandoned support of Aperture several years ago, leaving user twirling in the wind. Many, of course, gravitated to Lightroom, which, as an Adobe product, is very much alive and well ... and getting better with each new release.

Actually Aperture has been keeping up as I used it for my previous Oly Omd 5 MkII. I believe Apple will up date shortly.
As to Lightroom. Being impatient I bought it today and the version which I assumed was up to date specifically listed th 5 MkII with an asterisk. When clicked it showed the RawFormat not yet available!

I have an Olympus OM-D 5 Mk2. I have had it about 6 months. I purchased it because my Canon gear was just to heavy. I had surgery on my neck and regular DSLRs really bother my neck. I have used different types of straps but even that caused my neck problems. I also travel quite a bit and carrying the gear through airports also was a problem
I really like this camera. It takes great photos. It has a 16 megapixel sensor but the camera can take a photo using tech that makes a 40 megapixel photo. If you use good lenses the camera takes good photos in low light. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I still use the DSLR for work though I have started to use the Olympus more as I have learned all the nauseas of the camera. I hope this helps you.

Go get a Blackrapid strap. It goes over your shoulder and crosses over your chest, avoiding your neck altogether. It seems a bit bulky and strange at first, but you'll come to like it in about 30 minutes. They have different models, and mine lacks the big shoulder pad of this one. Your Oly will seem almost weightless:
