And that damm fool has NO idea what the consequences of a nuclear weapon. Nuclear weapons are designed to wipe out innocent children and civilians, not just the military.

Donald Trump is old enough to have seen the devastating effects of nuclear weapons used at Nagasaki and Hiroshima so probably knows as well as anyone else on the planet about the consequences. Simply saying we have nuclear weapons does not indicate his willingness to use them. Also you seem to forget America's system of checks and balances. Trump doesn't get to simply wake up one day and push a button to annihilate another country. Try to relax and give the new President a chance without having a conniption fit.

Meanwhile back in the USA our military has been decimated by the current administration.

Time for another hunt for "Red October".

From today's hearings:

"Retired Gen. James Mattis said Thursday that he does not believe the U.S. military is strong enough to deter Russia and China.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, asked Mattis if America has a strong enough military to be able to deter against those threats and he responded, "No, sir."

A Chinese Naval Vessel stole a US Navy underwater Sea Drone in International Waters not too long ago. It was returned. China harassed a US Aircraft months before, flying over Neutral Waters. And the harassing Chinese military fighter jet, sent a message, "leave or else." China wants to control the South China Sea. They took those islands, put military aircraft and hardware on them, and proclaimed we are the new owners now. And said ships and aircraft had better find another route. Russia invaded Crimea, and now wants more influence in the Middle East Region. The Berlin Airlift Encounter of 1948 preceded the Cuban Crisis of 1962. Stalin finally gave in on that encounter, when he discovered he couldn't win. And North Korea? They only want to harass us.Yes, the Communists are back again.

For readers. ABNCP is Airborne Command Post. A Command that takes over, if ground forces are inoperable, or destroyed. Its mission is associated with potential nuclear warfare.

Yes, non-photography talk is undesireable. But as you just can't stifle words without editors, the reality is you can't duck the non-photography chatter. That is why we have Chit Chat and the Attic. This particular subject should have been in the Attic. I have suggested The Cellar for the really smelly stuff, but it went nowhere.

If you want to talk politics, there are places where people are interested and, in my opinion, this is not the proper forum. By the way, for those interested, the campaign SOAP OPERA, is over, now for the second season which is ongoing with the same political hacks and talking heads.

The new diesel submarines are cheap and very quiet. In a somewhat recent war game, a French sub defeated U. S. defenses - not sure what kind of sub.

I didn't know anyone evn made diesel subs anymore. The major to middle-major powers are all nuclear powered.

Our nuclear stockpile is, what, 40+ years old. Given the very fine tuning in their designs, might the unavoidable radioactive disintegration produced enought high-crossection disintegration products might have made those weapons less-reliable. One of my former projects was to design a 'life-of-hull' reactor for naval service. With every fission come two fission products which decay radioactively, and each product and subsequent daughter would have a neutron cross-section. At some point less than one neutron would survive to initiate the next fission, so the reactor would fizzle. I am not privy to those weapon designs so can not know what the fizzle cross-over point is.

Obviously, we're not spending enough on our military.

Fortunately, Trump has said that he wants to increase our nuclear stockpile because 7,100 nuclear weapons isn't nearly enough.

The Middle East debacle has cost us six trillion .
Obama has drawn the military down to pre WW2 levels .
We are losing all of our manufacturing and our Universities are pushing Socialism .
You don't think that China and Russia know we are ripe for a fall ?
But there's still a left hook that can make sure we don't hit the canvas , and that counter-puncher is Trump .
If he does what he says , to get the steel mills running again , renegotiate trade , cut funding to Sanctuary Cities , rebuild our military and show the world we mean what we say , the respect alone that will come with that , the morale boost in this country and the real hope for a better future will be stronger than any Russian Submarine or a Chinese Aircraft Carrier .
Communism is only getting a second wind because we dropped the ball . January 20th can't come fast enough .
But if for some reason he drops the ball , well , enjoy life now , because it will get worse , much worse , especially for the poor slob who gets out of bed everyday to go to work to support his or her family .

The Military needs better oversight. Former DOD Secretary Gates, from the Bush 43 Administration did his job so well, that President Obama requested him to stay for another term. He agreed. After a couple of years, he left, and the management support of the military faltered quickly. Hopefully, Mad Dog, General Mattis, will enhance morale, properly equip the troops, and get the US military respected again. And he knows Russia, North Korea, China, and ISIS very well. Someone with backbone.

Mattis was a brilliant pick . He knows what we need and is a brilliant military tactician and strategist .
