I purchased a used film camera from KEH, at a very good price. Upon inspection, after it arrived, I was disappointed in the overall condition of the camera and expressed this to KEH. They immediately provided me a PP return label. My credit card was reimbursed within a couple of days. At this point, I was very satisfied with the results. But then.....Are you ready for this?????...They also gave me a gift card for the full amount of the original purchase!!!! I used the gift card to purchase another, more expensive camera.

There are several good businesses out there selling used equipment, but I don't think you will find a better, more trusting one than KEH.

I love KEH and have purchased a variety of things from them. My major purchase was a Nikkor 80-400mm lens (older AF version that requires the focus motor in the camera). The lens was (as they put it A+) great condition and looked new. It even had the Kirk tripod mount in place of the original Nikon. It also had the carrying case and front and rear lens caps (also Nikon). The ONLY thing it was missing was lens shield. I paid $400 for the lens and bought the shield from B&H for $38. I was extremely happy with them and highly recommend that you include them in any search for used equipment. I also search Adorama and B&H for used.

As you can see it pays to buy from reputable dealers.

They are fantastic.
I'm surprised the condition wasn't good.
Everything I've bought from them is better than advertised.

I'm thinking someone at KEH committed a simple error and assigned the wrong condition description for the product. What KEH did is what builds customer loyalty.

I just received an 18-300mm Nikkor from them rated at E+. It came the next day after the order which was a surprise. It is indeed E+. I don't mind used and this deal saved me almost 300 bucks verses the cost of a new one.

OK - I think we got it.

I've always been happy with them too. If you stay one model behind the latest and greatest, you can save a lot of money and still have great equipment. I always judge a vendor by what they do when things go wrong. Anybody can be great when all is well. Your story gives me even more confidence in KEH. If you are lucky enough to live near a large camera shop, they go out on the road occasionally and take trade-ins in person and sell used gear.

Also give a hearty thumbs up to the folks at KEH. I've found their ratings to be quite fair

Sounds like classic KEH to me.

KEH has a grading procedure for used items just as B&H does. The least grading is the least priced. Usually a cosmetic look, rather than the operation capabilities. I'm glad your situation came out positive though.

I have had outstanding service from KEH. I bought a Nikon 80 to 200/2.8 from them an it looked like a new lens. I also have sold to KEH and received what I thought was a fair price for my sold gear. I would deal with KEH again in a hear beat.

I've been dealing with KEH for over twenty five years and never had a bad experience with them. I couldn't begin to remember how much stuff I've bought from them. I usually use their pricing to determine of someone selling something on craigslist or ebay has it priced fairly too. My LN condition 70-200mm F4L Canon lens came from them and they were at least $50 cheaper than anyone else on the web at the time.

Is it not much of an issue to have 90 days instead of five years for warranty coverage?

My experience also. I always pick the EX+ items, and they always arrive looking and acting like new!

It's a great macro lens but it only goes to 1/2 life size unless it has the included adapter (more like an extension tube). It was made for Vivitar by Tokina. It's nickname is the "Bokina"...You really should have started a new thread for this & asked about it in the "True Macro" forum... I shoot with a Nikon D7100 as well & my "goto" macro lens is the other cult classic "Lester A Dine 105mm F2.8" which was made by Kino Precision and rebranded under several different monikers including Vivitar Series One. Tokina also offered their own branded 90mm F2.5 macro lens. It is identical to the Vivitar version.

Is this a good macro lens "

Vivitar 90mm F/2.5 Series 1 Macro AI Manual Focus Lens For Nikon" for a D7100
