What a shame......
....that this fine house went into terrible disrepair.
My wife and I have actually been inside this house. Years ago, the American Cancer Society would put on a Designer Showcase home and have an open house to show off local Interior Designer's work in usually an old home with some character. This house was called "Windy Walls" on the brochure. Each room was given "the treatment" by a local Interior Designer and they would completely decorate a room and have their skills as a designer on display. Usually it would be bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and any room not too expensive to do in a beautiful way.
This home sits on about 1.5-2 acres about a mile from my house. It can't be seen completely from the road but you can get a short glimpse as you pass by.
It's a shame it went into this condition over the years.
yep to bad, maybe you can buy it for real nice price?

I don't even know if it's for sale. There was no sign. I wouldn't be interested anyway. Way too much work to be done.
Thanks for commenting.
Tom, great series of architectural and architecural detail photos. Nicely composed and presented. I really appreciated the chance to read the short paragraph of background info before delving into the photos themselves. I know we say the photos should speak for themselves, but sometimes uncommented pix don't always get it done. This house might be a good candidate for protection by the local historical society or a partnership between such a group and Habitat. You might try sending a letter to former President Carter with a set of your fine photos (seriously!); I'm very confident he and Rosalynn would respond. Who knows, you just might be instrumental in saving the building - that could be a very satisfying result for you as a photographer. /Ralph

Thanks for your input. I think it was on the market within the last year or so. It may be waiting for funds to get it in marketing condition.
Yeah, that is a shame. Of causes me to wonder why someone would abandon a beautiful place, such as this one.

Thanks for looking. One can never know what circumstances a homeowner gets into to make things so bad they have to abandon.
Nice set Tom and very sad to see this beautiful house, which I'm sure was filled with love at one time, become neglected like this and now boarded up....
This would be my dream house, it has such wonderful details and love the wrap around porch!!

Thank you, Angela. Yeah, how about those "eyebrow" windows? There are so many eye-catching things about this house. It sure would be something to see it refurbished.
