Images from three days over the Labor Day weekend - September 2016. I'd never been to this airshow and hadn't spent more than a night in Cleveland since the 90s. Circumstances came together to attend all three days. Except for a lack of any clouds in the sky, the clear and not too hot weather was perfect. The show was exactly the same all three days so I focused on different planes on different days.
The images are 'hot links'. Although they display nicely here in UHH, you can click any of them and they'll launch even larger with shooting details from the host page in Flickr.

Great shots and very well done!
Pete
Great shots, some of the best I've seen of an air show.
Excellent series, I have been to that show.

Thanks Wayne! I needed to drive over from Chicago and a Friday minor crisis at work left me trying to leave at 8pm instead of 10am for the 5-hour drive. So, I drove over Saturday morning instead and missed the first few hours of Day 1. I was a bit surprised to unpack my equipment in Cleveland and find I'd left the 100-400L behind in Chicago. I got by with just the 24-70L and 300L with both the 1.4 and 2.0 extenders.

Thanks Karin! I'd recommend going back. The Cleveland event with seating is much different than Chicago where everyone is just out on the beach. I had no idea what to expect from seating and purchased seats in different sections and rows each day to see what worked good and bad. The only issue was the day I was downwind from the explosions and smoke from a pseudo bombing run by the B-25....

Thanks Kevin. I could if I had tickets ... if you want the outside, I live down the street and will be out there tomorrow night game on Sat.
Love air show pics! Great job!
Where were you standing for the head-on shot of the Blue Angels? It's my understanding that air show planes aren't allowed to overfly the audience. Am I wrong?
Thanks!
These are among the best airshow photos I've ever seen, and I've been an aviator for 50 years. The colors are phenomenal, especially the blues in the Blue Angles.
Really nice pics. We had an air show in Knoxville, Tennessee just prior to the Blue Angels pilot being killed outside of Nashville. What a terrible loss to that program and our nation. It featured some of the same airplanes and helicopters in your pictures. I also got to see Fat Albert in one of its famous takeoffs. It was spectacular
