Yep!, get a kick out of you guys discussing all this techno-smechno stuff. I really wonder how many of you are guessing and how many of you actually know? If I go by all this stuff, my list is pretty solid.

Shutter operation: 1-500 and T+B. Check!

There's a couple of other things you might want to get for the D500. I got the Kenko LCD screen D500 protection film pack. I comes a protector film for both the rear LCD screen and the little LCD on top of the camera. Nikon used to have those snap-on plastic LCD protectors but they're getting away from those. Also, Nikon designed a hot shoe cover for the D5 (listed as an option for the D500) that's much better than those hard plastic ones that are difficult to slide in and out of the hot shoe. It's the BS-3 hot shoe cover. It's made of two pieces. You push down and back and it slides out easier than the standard covers.

Why would you need a dedicated card reader when you can connect the camera directly to a computer?

Another reason to use a card reader - the camera needs to be turned on to download and if you are downloading a 64g card full of RAW files the camera battery may be depleted before all the files are downloaded.
