Okay I own a D500 are you stuck on using Lexar XQD cards? I myself am pretty anal about the brands I use, but B&H does carry and have in stock the Sony XQD cards and being anal as I stated before I figure Sony sensor Sony cards only negative is that they are more expensive

Am I stuck , nope, Lexar just had some of the best reviews for a XQD card. Plus all I use is Lexar cards. I bought the Sony M series just to hold me over till the ones I ordered become available. And from what I read while looking for something in stock, the Lexar is faster than the Sony.

To ease your cable issues, you might want to look into the Lexar hubs. They can be costly, but they are convenient. I use XQD, CF, SD and SDXC cards on a regular basis. Of them all, I think the Lexar 2933x XQD cards are the best, and fastest, by far. For me, it's Lexar only, although Nikon supplied a Sony XQD with my D5. I'm certain you'll love you new camera. Best of luck!

For one, I don't need to bend over, climb under my desk every time I need to plug in a camera wire which would be often, if it were just one camera and didn't need the cable for tethering, maybe I'd leave the wire plugged in. Second, all my USB ports are spoken for, (8 or 10 in total) one of which is for a SD card reader and the other spare I have will be for the XQD card reader when it comes later. They sit at a convenient within reach place on my desk...and I had a spare $24. Oh, another reason, and an off the wall once in a million odds type thing, let say I get a voltage spike and my APC units don't protect my system while my camera happens to be plugged in and my computer shuts down, burns out, frys, or maybe spikes the camera. I think Id rather take a chance on a $24 card reader or a $59 mem card becoming corrupt than taking a chance on one of my $2,000 - $6,000 cameras. And another reason, Lets say my camera is plugged in and sitting on my desk, I get up and catch the cable with my foot and either rip the cable from the camera, or worse, pull the camera off the desk... the more I think about it and if I had the time, the more reasons why I use one. Already I've wasted to much of it.

Basically you do not need to ask a question either.

Basically, you continue to be an idiot. Don't blame me because your advice was misleading and inaccurate and you got called on it.

I'm expecting a Nikon D500 today and for the past couple days have been trying to locate XQD mem cards for it... B&H, Adorama and my local guys are all back ordered/out of stock...(Lexar 32 & 64 GB 2933x XQD 2.0) Can I, or will I be able to use it with just the Lexar Pro 1000 cards being I can make it the primary card? I have a Soccer game to shoot tomorrow eve and would like to use it if possible. I ordered a Sony card in the mean time but not sure if it'll get here in time. I have my 7200 to fall back on if needed.
Thanks for any help.

Called for what? Pray tell.

Problems with using tethering:
- First level
.. Purchase of a cable USB cable.
.. Possible accident as mentioned by someone else. (I personally do not see an issue here but I do not know how cluttered his desk is so, valid as any other objection)
- Second level
.. Using the battery just to download captures is an issue
.. purchasing a dedicated insert using AC is more expensive than a simple adapter especially if it is the sole purpose. It adds one more cable and requires AC access.

The adapter takes less space, is faster than the camera connection, does not use the battery and can be carried in a pocket to use with any device that has a USB port. A cable uses the battery, is not as fast, not as convenient and takes more space.

So... Your intervention is just ridiculous.

As to calling me an idiot... You might want to look in a mirror. You have egg running down your face and some floor to make some of it stick. You should really wash it, along with your potty 'mouth' (keyboard).

Go back and read your post. Perhaps even you can figure it out. But I doubt it.

I'm sure the Lexar Pro 1000x cards will be fine. You will be able to get off a lot of shots before the buffer and memory card slows you down. I wouldn't worry about it. I'd order it from B&H, Adorama and wait. Use what you've got. It will still take fine pictures.
