St Francis, Catholic Church, White Sulphur, Ky

Driving about, lost, after visiting Switzer's Covered Bridge, I noticed a white spire, almost an Russian Onion, peeking above a ridgeline. Not a typical sight in this part of Kentucky. I had to investigate.

St Francis, oldest parish in Covington Diocese, 2nd oldest in Kentucky. Founded in 1786 by Maryland Settlers, current church built in 1820.

All doors were securely locked, still an active church, and services are held every weekend.

A very interesting change in time. Years ago, Catholic churches were open all the time, at least the ones of which I was aware.

Nice photographs.

Locks on church's doors does not speak well of our society or culture. Pray for us!

I will tell you what else bothers me, all the historical buildings/facilities that I visit have cages, security cages, built about their air conditioning equipment. Copper theft!

Recently here in Lexington Ky, two thieves were attempting to steal the copper wiring along I-75, in the highway lighting system. They were found, in the dark, dead! Lesson? Never steal wire while the lights are on!

Are you open to constructive technical and artistic criticism?

Sir, I appreciate your offer. However, these were impulsively posted, straight out of camera, no post processing at all. If you would be so kind as to permit me time to perform minimal post processing, specifically straightening the shots, cropping for composition, a bit of color correction, and such, then I would really appreciate constructive criticism. But it would be a waste of your talents to focus on them as they are now. Unless you are a "straight out of Camera obsessive compulsive" type.

I anticipate reposting these tomorrow, look forward to your opinion, then. Thank you!
