Good article Jerry, I think that a lot of countries would agree that the coverage was less than spectacular and given tha status of the games. As an Aussie, I gave up trying to follow the events there were 3 chls dedicated!!! Oh and plus an APP. Bill

The solution is simple; boycott NBC. The only way to get the attention of corporate clowns os to hit them in the pocket book. Having exclusive rights to broadcast for major broadcasters is one thing, but to block private communications is another.

Agreed. The commercials were more important than the competitions. They would sometimes cut to one in the middle of someone's event.

Trouble with this for me is that Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD are on NBC, three of my favorite shows. And I like watching their evening news with Lester Holt mainly because it comes on at 5:30 while the others come on at 6:00. The 5:30 time is more convenient for me. So, no can do. Sorry.

P.S. I record these shows (not the news) so that I can fast forward through the commercials.

Used to be commercial breaks during regular TV programs came around every 15 minutes. Now they come along every 10 minutes. Back then a show would run about 50 minutes with 10 minutes of commercials. Now the programs are only about 40 or so minutes with 20 minutes of commercials. Then the advertisers and networks can't figure out why so many viewers record the programs and fast forward through the commercials.
Long live the DVR.

The commercials pay for the coverage, It is no simple task to move the amount of equipment and personnel needed to another country. NBC makes money on the coverage, but it is their business goal to make a profit. I did notice a lot of breaks for commercials , but the breaks were shorter than the usual 4 to 5 minutes in standard broadcast programing, often only 1 minute during a time out.

This is all about selling advertising. Everything is molded around the timing of the ads. I, for one, am not trying to watch it live as I am sure the really important moments will be available on line in a short time. I check the results in the newspaper.

Also, I am currently watching the Vuelta de Espana, on of the major bicycle races on NBC Sports Gold. This is over the internet and in my case via my Apple TV. No ads, continuous coverage, although the commentary is a bit bland. This will be over 14 major races broadcast in this way over the next year.

I wanted to watch the sailing events, and found it here in time to watch medal races (choose all sports on top and pick your sport)

Love it and so true.

And in the same spirit of this, the other networks.

ABC Always Been Crap
CBS Craps Biggest Slant
FOX Forever Other X (too terrible to print, thus the X)
PBS Propagandas Biggest Shitting

There you go; not one of them worth a ****

All you who just can't do without their programming; do you realize how pathetic you sound. The boycotting suggestion was for the Olympics coverage. The way to do it is to start a petition on line, say why we will not watch the Olympics on NBC and make sure the sponsors know it's being done. You also promise to not buy anyones products who advertises on NBC during the Olympics. It's all a money thing, the only way to get a corporations attention is to hit them in their wallet.

I'm speaking for myself, but, being interested in shooting , I didn't see anything like that , had to go to a foreign site to found out about , and watch a few clip of the action

They mentioned the Lady who won the 10 meters air riflr Gold for the US , I guess the producer was reprimanded for that ...

NBC and all the rest are useful as an as....e with tastes buds !

Sailing, rowing, boxing, pentathlon, the list goes on, and NBC complains that their 12 Billion investment didn't work out.
