Apology

Another member has pointed out to me a very callous and insensitive remark that I made about another member's 'photo' that they posted for comments. I am so very sorry that I took the 'jist' of the post and request for comments not all that seriously. Believe me, I have no room whatsoever to post anything derogatory about anyone else's hard work. I made a very serious mistake in the way I read the post, and this was pointed out to me by another member. I sincerely apologize to 'unclebo1257' for the very insensitive and rude comment that I made about his post. I think we all work very hard at 'this' endeavor and for a lot of us it is a life long pursuit of 'excellence' in trying to produce images that will bring joy, inspiration, and just plain old happiness to our fellow human beings. I failed this miserably in my comments to 'unclebo1257'. For that I will be forever ashamed. I meant no harm and I only wish the very best of luck, inspiration and talent to every person on this Forum.

I just wanna say that I didnt see your critique but you're a stand up guy for the apology.
We all need thick skin in forum and email world 'cuz you cant see facial expression or hear intonation.
the sender's message certainly matters but the reciever's eye/ears matter just as much.
Alot of folks would have let this slide....you did the right thing!

Don't sweat the small stuff. Who among us? Everyone has there 10 minutes of fame and 20 minutes of shame.

pixel first off let me say, it takes a big man to admit error and ask for foregivness. i didn't see your post so don't know what you said. My respect for you has doubled simply because of your apology. rocco is right that people can't see facial expressions or vocal tones. that's why i use smiley's so much. to let people know it was said in jest.

I love your avatar by the way. did you draw it yourself? I dont know what it is about tlr's but i am always fascinated by them yet have never shot with one.

Thanks for all of your support guys. I was in the wrong and being flippant in my response. I've been told I have a strange sense of humor ... and so a lot of 'smilles' may have helped to mellow my response. All in the past now, and I'll watch my 'fingers' (and mind) a lot more closely in the future.

Sinatraman, to make up my avatar, I went to GOOGLE images and gathered up some paint brushes in tin cans and an image of an old "Mamiya C330". That camera used to be the 'Portrait Photographers' main tool. Anyway, I removed all the backgrounds and other extraneous junk, brought the images together (in CS5) and produced what I think resembles my way of 'photography'. I have always 'fooled around', 'post-processed', or in some way made changes to what I captured. To me, that is a big part of the fun of it. To see if I can make the image just a little bit better. To others, 'purists', that is called cheating. And I guess that's why I couldn't resist my flippant comment about 'Photoshopping'. There will be some strong feelings either way for some time to come, I'm afraid. But for me, I do hope my 'avatar' gives at least a 'hint' of my intentions. That was my thoughts in designing it anyway.

Thanks again guys. I'm not feeling so bad anymore, but will still try to keep my 'convictions' and thoughts toned down.

Mamiya C330! My second most wanted camera years ago, right behind a Mamiya RB67. Never got either, just got married.

Lmarc, they are pennies on the dollar on eBay. You can pick them up cheap and still get film for them. I have a freezer full of old film and mess around with a C330, C220 some Yashica's, and a couple of cheap Rolleiflex's and a couple of old Graflex's. I only bought them because they are so cheap because of digital. But I too drooled over them way back when there was no way I could afford them. The higher end Rolleiflex's are still beyond my reach, but .... someday.

... forgot to add. These old cameras are tiny little works of Art!

They are definitely works of art, as well as mechanical masterpieces! I get the same feeling holding an old once-expensive camera as holding an antique watch or artistically ornate firearm.

Used both cameras and own an old RB67 both wee fine cameras actually shot a wedding with 330 and with the RB67. I love digital like cocaine but miss film like pot, I am personlly no druggie so this is a joke on my love of photography.
