Appreciate the advice. Enjoy reading the opinions of quality photographers and enthusiasts.

I am getting up to speed on LR5. Did not know that LR had the HDR functions. Have been doing a bit of research and found reference to Photomatix as stated by Pic-a-dude

LR5 didn't have it, it was added in LR6 or in the Adobe CC subscription, which is the best $10 a month you can spend. Good luck.

I shoot HDR, I bracket 5 to 9 shots depending on the scene. I then use photomatax , plug in for Addobe PS, it has more selections than PS. It is not a free plug in if that is a concern.

I use Photomatix Pro for the software. MY Canon will shoot a burst of shots. I can set them as -1 EV, neutral, and +1 EV, or 2 EV + and -. A bit of set up to learn. But when you have bright areas and shadow areas in the same frame, it is the only way to get exposure right. Unless you take an interior room and then take a window with bright light outside and you copy one and paste in the other. David The attached photo was done before HDR. The statue was over exposed so I took it in the day and pasted to the night shot.
