Yes, I'm very impressed with it. Its dynamic range is wide. It retains a lot of detail in shadow and bright areas. I think the omission of the anti-aliasing filter gives it slightly sharper images than cameras that have the AA filter. I've done comparison shots with cameras that have the AA filter using the same lenses. I like how it has a dedicated ISO button right behind the shutter button. It makes changing ISO settings fast. I has a tough build. Nothing feels loose. All of my lenses seem to focus faster.

Do a search on UHH for feedback. There quite a few threads already.

I'm not the OP. I responded to the OP's question.

Love the camera, owning d7100 and the d3200, this is the pro version of DX Nikon camera. Just returned from Bali where i worked with both cameras the d7100 and the new 500, the dynamic of the 500 is excellent and the overall picture is flawless, what about the camera that i like it is the ease of changes that you make while taking the shot, what i referring is, no more going back to the menu to make the appropriate change, all the change and settings are on your finger tips, without loosing to much time.

You will not find many people who dislike the D500. Like any new camera the reports are going to be in general terms excellent. This new camera seems to be pretty good handling noise and excellent when it comes to accurate and precise AF.
In my humble opinion the images depend more on the software of the camera and the lens in use, not to mention photographic technique.
If you need a DX camera I am sure that the D7200 will do as well from all I have read so far about it.

I absolutely love mine for bird photography. It acquires and maintains focus faster than my D810. It is a pleasure to handle, which is to say great ergonomics. Even at 10 frames per second there is no longer a buffer issue. It is almost identical to the much more expensive D5, but for the fact that it is not full-frame, which is not a bad thing, some say it is even desirable. What's not to like.

...yes, very informative. As a sidenote, I read the comments and discovered that Nikon will exchange the EN-EL15 version "01" batteries for current models...free! A boon for me, I also have a D800 and several batteries...all returnable. Seems that (and I've experienced this) they drain out *fast* in the 500. Just
went thru the process and will have my new ones soon! Here's a link...
