I am impressed with the quality of the photos and focusing and processing speed, especially using the highest speed xqd card. Here are a couple images.

I am happy that he (and I) like group auto focus when it comes to BIF.

Steve

I have enjoyed your web site for several years. The sen help videos have been well produced. Your eBook on wildlife is excellent for the beginner or the professional. Thank you for your work and insight.

Very good review. I have been considering a D500, however, I am holding out for an announcement of the D820/850. If I shot more wildlife or action, I don't think there would be any question. Thanks for your review.

I also think the D500 is great for close up. This is with the D500 and the Sigma 180mm macro.

I have had the D500 for 3 weeks not happy at all. I think a D810 are $$$ better spent.

People how right this revues don't wont to ament that they f** up.

It is fast but that all I can say for it.

PS I do wild life and bird in flite.

Ahh, but perhaps you are one of the fortunate people who can not only afford to buy the 600mm f4 and 800mm f5.6 lenses most photographers require to fill the frame of a D810 in order to get the best out of it (for BIF), but also have no problem carrying such lenses for up to seven hours a day. It may be of benefit to those still considering a D500 if you posted some comparison shots of birds in flight taken on your D810 and your D500.

Wow, an excellent review that a working man/photographer can sink his teeth in. You've answered all of my questions/concerns....

Some observations . Opinions about cameras is like Motor oil looking for an argument and looking for a place to have it ,,,,with that said and done I Own Nikon D500 for a week and I ran it through its paces first photograph hawks And then it was off to photograph something that would be considered very invasive dragonflies in-flight I've been using the D 7100 for three years Many come out not usable because the autofocus got confused with background it was not able to reacquire in time to capture the picture dragonflies where the hardest with d7100 ... with D500 95% of the pictures of the dragonflies came out perfect I appreciate the upgraded autofocus and performance and as for the pictures themselves they are identical to the D 7100 ....... Because I'm using the same glass I think it was a great investment plan to enjoy it for several more years definitely A performance upgrade from a D 7100

The fast shooing speed, greatly improved auto-focus system, and hi iso capabilities of this crop sensor body are amazing. It compliments my D4 very well. It is, in my opinion, the best crop sensor body available. Professional grade top to bottom. The following samples were all shot between iso 8000 and 16000 with a little noise reduction added.
