Nice shot. How do you get the black background? I had one to do that but I don't know how it did it. It was shot in daylight.
Very nice shot, Hankm. Good question, how DID you get the black background? I once took some shots of a Cannalily, and positioned the flash behind the flower. It made a very dramatic photo. That was on film however, if that matters...and it was years ago.
Carry a small wooden stake with a cardboard sheet attached to it with Velcro and cover the cardboard with black velvet is a good way.
Fabulous shot of my favorite flower the Rhodedenrun. I used to live close to Exley near Southampton in southern England and that was absolute heaven . Now I have my own beautiful flower!

Beautiful shot. The only thing I would suggest is using the Rule of Thirds by cropping it differently. With it centered it looks so unatural. I'll attach a copy of what I mean on my next post coming up right away. Cameranut, I usually get my black background in one of two ways. While directly shooting to obtain it I wait until dusk when the light is moderately dark. I then take the photo using a flash. To make this work there must not be anything close by in the background. With editing you can do it by selecting the flower and making the flower into its own layer. Then creating a black layer and putting it below the flower layer.
