This house was built circa 1880 according to a sign near the curb.

Here is another one which is a little older obviously. I can understand a screened in porch being added on and I can go with the asphalt shingles. But an electrical outlet outside by the door? To me, the good people of War Eagle Arkansas have a funny way of defining historical restoration. Both homes by the way, are occupied.

Last one. I thought it kind of interesting that this old, old store which has been closed down for some time now, has Christmas lights hanging from the porch with an extension cord still attatched.

Looks like the left side of the house has dropped. Add on porch maybe. Roof on left tied in incorrectly?

Nope. Vinyl siding and replacement windows. I am sure it is energy saving and low maintenance but C'mon! It is designated as a historical building no less.

Designated by who? I'm surprised they would put 1800 on the sign but people do redo old houses. If its on a historic registry that would surprise me.

War Eagle is close to where I live and there is a fabulous mill there, well worth the trip from Eureka Springs where the picture ops are superb.

I know. It is so weird. I'll tell you what. Half the people down there don't know that the war is over yet! I kid you not! But I was prepared. Before I went on my little trip, I bought the Rosetta Stone series on how to speak Hillbilly-Ridge Runner. Being from Chicago and living in Boston for many years, I thought this was my only chance of getting out of there alive, Y'all.

I also noticed that there are no two dollar bills down there nor Lincoln Head pennies.

A side note: When I bought my Sony a500 last year, I knew that it did not have built in video like the Nikons and Canons nor all the point & shoots. I believe in separation of church & state. Old school I guess. Well, on this trip I took my new Sony a580 which has built in video. I tried it and the results were very good. Still don't like it. If I am going to shoot video, I will use a camcorder.
