I've read a few articles lately about Affinity Photo. Have any of you tried it? It operates on the pixel level, like Photoshop. It's currently available only for the Mac, but the price is low, just $49.

i have it Jerry.
It doesn't catalog pictures, so I use the Affinity tools as extensions in Photos. It's really very good.
I have Affinity Photo, but haven't gotten to using it much. It's a powerful program and does a nice job. Much like PS, but not quite as complicated. I think it it has the most advantage in processing RAW images, as processing JPEGS doesn't seem to do much more than Photos built into my Mac. For the price, it offers a great value and it a great tool.

Jerry, one other thing.
There are a lot of tutorials on the Affinity web site. I'm sure there a plenty on YouTube also, but if they're on the web site you know they have Affinity's approval.
If you haven't already looked at the Affinity web site, check it out.

Considering all the problems that cataloging causes in LR, that could be a plus for Affinity. There are lots of other programs that do cataloging. I'm sure there will be a Windows version soon.

I have read that Affinity is working on a Windows version.

I have it and am still learning it. I do like it's result. The downside is no catalog in it. The upside is I got it early enough in the release that I have free upgrades.

Ya it should be out this Spring/Summer.
I have been using Affinity Photo for a while now. Its a great photoshop replacement. Its not as bloated as photoshop and is more than enough for photographers. One other thing I think to clean up a photo and remove objects it seems to work even better than Photoshop

I have it and think it is great... and the first upgrade, to come out in several months (they say) is free! The tutorials are very helpful and inexpensive... some on YouTube are free.

As you probably know, Affinity is a Serif product. I use a Mac, but for one reason or the other I switched to a PC and discovered how nice Serif products are and when I switched back to Mac my only regret was not being able to take their software with me. Three cheers for Serif! If you are a PC user you might look at Serif Photo. It may have much of the functionality Affinity does. That being said, Affinity is pretty amazing!
Affinity photo is really good software. It rivals Photoshop CC in many ways. It does a lot of things PS CC does better and easier, and some Photoshop does not do. At a much more reasonable price of $50.00 you own it . OK, it does not have a viewer like bridge. But most computer now days come with some type of photo viewer any way.

Don't know if you are aware of this but you resurrected a dead 4 year old thread. There are literally many dozens of threads containing hundreds of posts where Affinity is discussed and reviewed/compared with other software. There is nothing wrong with posting to an ancient thread if you wish, but it's probably not the best way to communicate your opinions.
