Is that an Arca-Swiss type mount that is on the bottom and side parts of the bracket?

Yes Basil...The 2 L brackets I use on my 5D3 & 1D IV from RRS both are arca-swiss along with I believe a 3/8 screw-in (bottom mount only) for conventional mounting.

The side arca swiss allows quick change out for portrait shooting without messing with an unbalanced tilted head.

My 6D with the Sigma 24-105mm lens serve together as my go-to gear for most of my photography. This pair will serve you well, too.

My new (refurbished) 6D just arrived! I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow, so was very happy when Fed Ex delivered it this morning around 9:30 AM. I've noticed the menu interface is a little different than on my 7D Mark II. Instead of having, for example, a Camera tab with several sub-tabs, like the 7D2, the 6D has multiple camera tabs, multiple playback tabs, etc. Similar but not exactly the same. I also noticed right off the bat that this camera feels just a tad smaller and is noticeably lighter than the 7D2.

I just popped on my 24-105 f4L and noticed right away how much wider the wide end is and how much you give up with a crop frame camera! I can't wait to get this thing out on a decent day and try some landscapes, street shots, etc. I may put on the 300 f4 and try some bird shots as well.

Since this was a refurb, I was interested to see what the shutter out was. I've seen some people talk of very low shutter count on refurb cameras. This one had a shutter count of 482 out of the box. I've heard of lower on reforms, but I'm ok with 482. Heck, I've shot more than that on a sing;e day with my 7D2.

Where did your 6D come from, Canon or another place, like KEH or Adorama

None of the different models have exactly the same menus. But fortunately they are similar and pretty easy to deal with once you know how to use one model.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well your 6D will do in dim lighting. I routinely photograph my grandson's rock band in small venues with horrible lighting at ISO 12,800 and get usable images.

I bought it from the Canon refurbished store online, so it came direct from Canon and has a 1 yr Canon warranty.

I actually had been #2 in line to possibly buy a used 6D from a UHH member when I came across this Canon deal. The Refurb was about $240 more, but I finally decided it was worth it if for no other reason than the warranty.

I have found the 6D menu to be much simpler with fewer options than the 7D2, but so far it seems to have most, if not all, of the functions I care about. There is enough similarity that it shouldn't take long to get accustomed to it.

Every review I've seen praises the 6D's low-light capability. Can't wait to try it out in those conditions.

Yes, I've had similar experience with the operation of the 6D.

If it is not too pertinent a question but how much do you guys pay for the "refurbished 6D? we do not seem to get refurbs in Canon's like you do, on your side of the pond.
