Has anyone had a bad experience with this dealer?
I have previously bought a camera and couple lenses from them and have been pleased. Then lately I have heard rumblings of a bad experience, from an unknown source. Gas, or fact is hard to know, except for word of mouth from an actual customer.
Thanks for any replies be they negative or positive.

Their rep is not the greatest.

Run as fast as you can away from them. Buy from B&H, Adorama, Amazon.

Also check out KEH.com for good deals on used and refurbished gear. Cameta has been a good source as well. I'm blessed to live here in Austin, when I want to buy from a brick and mortar store, the service and support at Precision Camera is hard to beat.

Okay, everyone thanks for the replies.
I noticed on the bottom of my Nikon D750 where the serial number is located it says, Nikon Corp Japan. then below that it says made in Thailand serial 2032613, does this mean i have a grey market camera. I checked the serial number to see if it needed upgrade on nikon's recall list and it said no. It seems the more i read the more confused I get. lol

Not all Nikon stuff is made in Japan. That includes items intended for Nikon USA. In the box you should have received a warranty card that state it was either a USA, or North American warranty. If you rec'd an international warranty it is most likely grey market.

If in doubt, call Nikon in Melville and give them the serial number.

Come on, you are smart enough to know that where you are reading "Nikon Corp Japan" means that Nikon Corp's headquarters (Main office) is located in Japan. Thailand is where your particular Nikon product was manufactured.

Whether or not your product is grey market, depends on the warranty, if any, you received with your product. Your product is only warranted in the USA if it came to you with a USA warranty. Kinda' easy to figure out, when you really think about it, eh ? :)

I have two questions regarding Nikon camera repairs:

1. If I buy a Nikon from 42nd Street (assuming it's grey market), can I send it to Japan for repair or must I send it to the country for which it was manufactured?

2. If a Nikon camera is purchased by an active member of the U.S. Military at a U.S military base post exchange in another country, who is responsible for the warranty?

These are, of course, rhetorical questions and do not involve specific situations.

Since you obviously have access to a computer, why not do an internet search on 42nd St. Photo to see what the world has to say about them. While you're at it use the "Search" function at the top of the page to see what UHH members have to say.

42ND Street must be doing something right in its merchandising operations. First, they entice you with unbelievable low prices and next comes additional scam offers. I've been told the reasons the prices are low is because they sell gray market. Not to say gray market is bad. But not always good either.

I have! Should have stuck with B and H, Adorama, Amazon. Bought a few things from them and had some of the contents missing. Took 2 weeks of arguing with them to get the rest of what I ordered. WON'T due business with them again.
