trying out my new toy a Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS II at a hockey game. made the shots with a Canon 5D MK III shutter at 640 and iso from 3200 to 6400

Love the action and spot on focus! I'm curious, what would it look like if you slowed the shutter just enough to give a sense of motion?

Love love love the second shot! You have your new rig humming. ;)
Oh, as mentioned above, it is fun to play with the shutter speed, slow it down a bit and add a little blur to show the speed of the puck flying by the goalie.

well I'm glad everyone likes my shots. I thought about slowing the shutter down but several people I work with thought it would be better if I froze the action. next time I'll try a slower shutter. hockey is a fast moving game and I didn't want to miss a good shot because i was messing with the camera settings.

I think the ice spray in the first shot is a good argument for keeping the shutter speed high. Any slower and it would just be a fuzzy white blur.
