Donna if the Tokina has a Nikon mount....should work just fine.

Thanks, Bret. I'll have to ask them because it's not obvious.

I have a Tamron 10 - 24mm and like it very much. No complaints. If you read the reviews you will drive yourself crazy unless you see a pattern in comments. I believe lots of those bad reviews are written by the competition.

You certainly have a valid point there my head and eyes are spinning from all the research.

Don't mean to highjack this thread but my question DOES have to do with ultra wide angle lenses so might be helpful as well. I was just looking at a TOKINA 11-16MM/2.8 FOR CANON APS-C to rent on Adorama but I shoot Nikon. It came up as an option when I searched for Nikon compatible wide angle lenses. Does anyone know if this lens will work on a Nikon D7100? Thanks!

You need to order it in the Nikon mount. I love mine on my d7000

I have that 11-16 2.8 Tokina on my D7100. Just got it !!! Amazing !! This lens is more fun. In your home it just takes in the whole living room !! Can't wait to get to some beautiful landscapes. Don't overlook this lens !! And a nice use one is in your price range.

I agreed with denwin580 and checked out E bay for you. Roberts Camera is selling this. They are a great outfit that offers easy returns.

Hi.
I am using a Crop sensor Canon. The standard f3.5 will suffice as price rockets for larger apertures.
Tokina is a bit above budget and only goes down to 12mm, Tamron and Sigma OK, Canon seems to get marked down a lot due to poor construction and over all softness at all settings.

Want to try an UW for the many situations where my 18mm isn't enough and I understand UW are very useful for landscapes.

I have the Canon 10-18. I would have gone with the Sigma 10-20 if it had been marked down to the $449.00 current price. When I purchased the Canon, the SIgma was $649.00. $300 for the Canon was an easy choice at the time.

Does anyone have hands on experience with Tamron 10 - 24mm and/or Sigma 10 - 20mm Ultra Wide angle lens? Any comparison tests?
.

i have the sigma 10-20 for nikon. loved it, but i now have 2 full frame lenses and the 10-20 is for a cropped sensor. i am trying to sell it. i can use it, with an adjustment in the full frame cameras, but won't get the widest angle.
interested in buying it? email me. i did list it on the for sale board here.

I had been considering either the Sigma or Tokina when I was in the market for an Ultra Wide when Canon came out with the 10-18. I ended up getting that too and have been very happy with it!

I have looked at several reviews and forums and the answers seem very contradictory with some saying Sigma is the sharpest, best and Tamron is soft and others saying the opposite with Tamron being sharpest, best and Sigma being soft.

I appreciate that at this price point the lens will not be perfect but I only want it for shots that I cannot get with my Tamron 18 - 270mm and am not likely to use extensively, so please do not suggest more expensive lens.

All I will say is you get what you pay for; I personally buy only OEM lenses made by Canon oh and yes I have never had a bad are poor len's made by them ever!

No, a Canon mount lens is not compatible with Nikon, due to Canon's shorter lens-to-focal plane distance. A Nikon mount lens can be used on a Canon camera with the proper adapter, however.

Years ago I spent the summer in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and even up on Baffin Island doing site surveys for the North Warning system. What a beautify part of the world! Yes, I took pictures, but was not really into photography so they are not the greatest. It is on my bucket list to get back to that area again, this time with wife in tow.

I have been researching UWA lens and several reports have shown the Canon 10-18m to be sharper than the Sigma 10-20 or the Canon 10-22mm and very much lighter!

I've always wanted one of these, a friend has one and he loves it. A bit more $$ http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/689637-REG/Sigma_203306_8_16mm_F4_5_5_6_DC_HSM.html
