Thank you both for the sources for mattes. Unlike many photographers, I like to place most of my images in mattes and frame them. Just a personal thing, I guess.... but that's what makes the world go 'round.... personal choices.

I'd really like to find more of the mattes like in this photograph..... with the beveled cut-out for quotes below the image. I especially like this quote.... and I admire the man himself. One of the greatest statesmen in American history. The story of him and his people is one of the most shameful entries in or history as a nation.

If you get a Matt cutter, they are very easy to make yourself (ovals and round ones as well) and you can make just the size you want!!

I buy mine from Dick Blickat www.dickblick.com.

Cutting your own mats will save a lot of money. Just get a mat cutter (I use a simple one made by Logan [Model 301-S] that enables me to cut bevel mats up to 32" ) and it works pretty well. Please note that it only make straight cuts; not curves. For what it's worth, I also like to frame my photos with a thicker mat, minimum 6 layer. I think it makes for a better, more professional framing job.
