This is a Pratt & Whitney 985-AN-1 engine. HDR, using natural fusion, in Photomatix Pro brings life to this scene.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts... Joe, Sue, and Jerry.

Question: If I expand to five images, do I need to take out an underexposed and overexposed image of the same value, e.i. -3 and +3, to get a different look?

I took photos of that airplane at the annual Oshkosh fly in last year. I believe it is a Stinson. The engine and cowl are works of art. The HDR does it justice. Nice merge.

Thank you, Paul, and you are right. This 1929 Fairchild 71 was the 2014 Antique Grand Champion at Oshkosh.

That's right it was a Fairchild. Gorgeous airplane.

Using 5 images on a shot like this will make no difference at all. 5 7 or 9 shots are needed when u have very bright areas in a subject combined with very dark. Church interior shot for instance. Dark shadows and bright windows.

If you want some tips from the best HDR guy you are ever likely to meet read these
