That's one of those cheap, modern 35mm film containers. I preferred the aluminum with the screw-on top. I think it was the seeing those little aluminum cans as a child that led me into 35mm photography. Very cool.

Actually you aren't old until you can identify a case for glass negatives. Any young whippersnapper can identify those oversize thimbles that held 35mm film.

I've worked with them at my museum job. I got to print several in the darkroom. I've also made my own glass negatives

Wow, I must be REALLY old! I remember the metal can with the screw-on lid before that plastic container came out :) Very handy for many little items after no longer needed for 35mm film.

You are right, Kodak came in black with grey lids. The photo is Fuji.

I remember buying Agfa when it came in an aluminum can with a screw on lid.

I am not "old" regardless of how I look or feel, but I absolutely remember those for holding film, matches or salt & pepper when hiking.

I wish I had kept all those metal cans. You just never know when things are going to gone forever. I remember when you could walk into any bank and buy silver dollars - for a dollar. I had a bunch of them.

Your photo reminds me of the old Velvia film cartridges that I used. If I remember correctly, most of the Kodak films came in a black canister with a gray top. Fuji films used the white.

I also remember in the 40's and early 50's some film canisters were metal with screw tops.

 I have a few of the screw top type left, but they are almost all not used for holding small parts. :D

PS: It's not the age; it's the mileage that counts! :XD:
