Go to a camera shop and look at Fuji, Olympus and Sony mirrorless.
What size sensor do you want? Do you want EVF and LCD? Doyou want a rangefinder style camera? Now you have to do some investigating.
You need to put the camera in your hands and hold it. If you are near NYC go to B&H Photo Video to try cameras. Before going to a camera store check for store closings Mon & Tues next week many stores will be closed for the Jewish New Year and through out Sept there will be jewish holidays. Check with a store before going to visit.

Went to Best Buy last week and looked at the Sony A6000.
Can say it did not do anything for me.
Think I will order a Fuji X T10 from B&H.

i am a nikon shooter, i did buy the sony a 6000 and i am happy with it. it has some great features, fastest focusing of the mirrorless cameras. i did buy an adapter to use my nikon lenses with it. below is a photo i took with the panorama feature on the USS, Intrepid.

i am using Fotodiox NIK-NEX Nikon Nikkor Lens to Sony Alpha Nex E-mount Camera Lens Mount Adapter. got it on amazon.
it will not allow autofocus, or changes to the camera. so i set up the camera with the sony lens then use the adapter with a nikon lense.

What are your recommendations for a very High quality,
compact, mirror less, camera? (Leica lenses? Or equivalent?)
It doesn't have to fit into my pants pocket.
Or am I asking for too much?

check the link above. i don't have high quality lenses for the mirrorless. i am not ready to give up my nikon and just wanted to play with the mirrorless to see the difference. i have the 2 kit lenses and i did get a 50 mm 2.8 sony.

Fuji X-Pro 1, XT 1, XE 2; you can't go wrong on these for your type of subjects

Many pro photographers use mirrorless now as well.
However, there are main downsides to my opinion:

1. consumes alot of battery-electronic viewfinder.
2. Unlike Canon and Nikon DSLRs, Lenses are expensive since
there are not third party models like Tamron, Sigma and others
for mirrorles companies.

Cant speak to other brands, but Sigma and Tamron are making e/ef lenses for Sony.
