I just joined today. I have enjoyed UHH and all the the usable information. I bought a replacement battery for my D610 by "DIGIPOWER". Does anyone know anything about the manufacturer and their reliability? Thanks in advance.

Welcome Manimal. The brand name you list is generic enough to sound semi-legit. But, they all sound like that, don't they? More important is where you bought it. Do you know the business, the sales rep, anyone associated with the company? Counterfeit batteries are a very serious problem in today's market. The consumer needs to be well-armed for their own protection. Knowing the source of the supplier will help you avoid the potential problems. Hopefully, someone around here will be familiar with the brand to give you a recommendation. GL

Did you get this battery from Amazon?
I bought it from Best Buy.
I have a couple of them, bought from Amazon, I bought them for the charger. But they work well. I don't date them I just pop one in and use it till about half way down, and pop in another. When I get home, I put all my batteries in the charger, including spares.
Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.
I use only the original manufacturer's batteries. I can't see putting a bargain battery in a camera that I paid a small fortune for.

I guess its a matter of wallet size, 50+ for the manufactures battery, 24 for two batteries with a charger. Same amp hour ratings.
Guess I figured I'd put enough into the camera.

I don't think I've ever bought a camera maker's battery, and I'm talking a dozen cameras from several manufacturers over many years. No problems - only money saved. On Amazon, and elsewhere, you can get two batteries and a home/car charger for $25.
I've used Wasabi batteries and they hold charge as well as Nikon or Panasonic. The Wasabi chargers work well too.

It's probably fine. The large retailers don't often get burned on batteries they sell. They HATE returns.
Now, if you bought it from some entity on the Internet that no one has ever heard of, I'd worry...
Do be careful with larger sizes of batteries, especially those that hang off the backs of video cameras. I once bought a high capacity, off-brand Lithium Ion battery from B&H for a Canon GL2 camcorder. A few months later, the stupid thing split apart at the mounting plate, on its own, then fell off, shorted out, and caught fire! Fortunately, I was outdoors at the time, and it landed on concrete before igniting.
I replaced that one with an OEM Canon battery.
Dirty little secret of the photo industry: Batteries and similar small accessories such as cables, filters, cases, etc. are among the highest profit items sold. Dealers rarely make much on the sales of cameras and lenses, since there is such heavy competitive pressure there, but they tend to stick you with 100% to 300% markup on the small stuff.

First- Welcome. As has been said many times, there are only a few battery makers. No camera company makes batteries. they buy then fron the battery makers. I hae used third party batteries and cant tell the difference between them and my Canon battery, and they work just fine in the canon charger. They may not hold a charge for quite as long as the OEM battery but , as I am not a pro and don't do several hundred shots at a time so it desn't make any difference.. BTW live view eats batteries regardless of the brand. Just my .02 cents.
I am not familiar with that brand. I have used Watson batteries for my Canon and Sony cameras for years with no problems. I buy from B&H (
www.bhphotovideo.com). I have always been very pleased with prices, service, and products I bought from them. I hear that Adorama (spelling?) is another good place to buy photographic equipment. An advantage to buying from someone who specializes in photographic equipment is that they are probably familiar with non-manufacturer brands and can give advice about their performance. I HIGHLY recommend B&H for good prices, rock-solid reliability, and knowledgeable sales staff.
