My girlfriend has 'stolen' my D7100, two zoom lenses, one flash and a few other odds and ends. She went with her girlfriends this weekend and we loaded up my gadget bag with her gear to keep it safe while they had more than several drinks. She told me, with a huge, adorable smile, that I probably need to buy myself a bigger camera bag... ;-)
The bag that she has 'stolen' is pictured below. It came with my D3200 kit and is (was) my only bag. I think I may want another Nikon bag, not sure yet, but not another one of these because my D610 was a little too wide for this narrow bag. I could use some advice and would love to hear what bag you

own. I don't want a huge bag, maybe something that is a little bigger than this kit bag with lots of pockets and can accommodate a D610's width and several accessories and lenses. Thank you.

I too was non Billingham but have ended up with two of them . Did have a Think tank , great bag but just not as practical as the Billingham , it does not sit as well. The Bellinghams sort of sit behind you whereas the Thinktank sits at the side of you , most people with ThinkTank seems to wear them across the shoulder which is not my preferred position . Mind you I do miss the "hidden" velcro feature of the Thinktank.

My youngest deprived me of the ThinkTank" and SWMBO deprived me of my first Billingham , she loves it .

My favorite bags are the old Tenba orange bags and the F2 bags. Look around and you can still find them on ebay and old camera stores. Cheap, very well built and easy to get equipment out. For a modern messenger bag, check out the type with pull out camera pads and then it becomes a messenger bag.

I like this bag:

http://www.amazon.com/Ohuhu®-Digital-Camera-Gadget-Organizer/dp/B00O9QPB2I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1439899994&sr=8-2&keywords=ohuhu+dslr+camera+bag

You can fit your camera with a long lens attached and two more long ones, and probably could squeeze in one more small prime lens. Still have room in main compartment for an iPad and a small book. Two small pockets for batteries, charger, and other small things and one big pocket in front for bigger items. This pocket is also good for a book or other non camera stuff. It's a canvas bag .

My D600 and F6 happily make their home in a Canon bag. It was a little larger than I could find in stores.

Not to mention that it makes it pilfer-proof. After all, who ever would steal a canon <LOL>

Try the Lowepro Nova 200 AW DSLR Notebook Backpack Laptop Bag Camera Bag All Rain Cover. Need to get it on Ebay from china ($54).
Great Bag holds d750 with 18-120 lens, 70-300, 200mm with room to spare.
It's not too big.

Many struggle with this dilemma, myself included. I ended up on the LowePro site, and they have an interactive app there that let's you identify the amount of equipment you want to put in the bag, then it will recommend a variety of bags in their stable that will accommodate it.

It worked well for me.

Hi Norman,

I got our camera bags at Cabela's. It's a padded, soft side fishing tackle bag. As I remember I paid about $15.00 each for the two my wife and I use. Each bag holds the camera, spare lenses, extra stuff and the flash. Take care & ...

I really like the LowePro Messenger bags. I have the 150, and I can get a full sized DSLR, fairly long lens, flash, and even my laptop. Nicely made and not too expensive.

I use a brown paper carrier bag with strong string handles to carry all my "gear". I like to photograph events where security can be a bit intrusive. I find that the most diligent of security men will not bother looking in a carrier bag so I can carry my stash and pipe at the bottom of bag and remain untroubled. Hope this helps your obvious dilemma over what to purchase
.

And often B&H has many of their models on sale. I have three of their bags and all have the rain covers which is a nice feature when you get caught in a rain storm.

Don't buy another D3200..best is the 3300 or 7200. I found the flimsy battery doors would not stay on my 3200..I took it back, because in my opinion, even though the camera took great pictures, the door was not close to Nikon quality that we pro's have been accustomed to.
