I did not look at all the videos but the Bloke did NOT say that the Sony/adaptor focused faster than a Canon with Canon glass. He said that with that adaptor and using Canon lenses combination it focused the fasted! indicating over any other adaptors.
He shot some pics of a car going by but we never actually saw them. Only a real ROOKIE looks at the back of the camera and pronounces something in focus.
On an LCD, EVERYTHING looks in focus, no matter how FAR off it is. He would have to be tethered! Maybe I missed that!?

Don't worry, no one is offended. Not anybody that knows the D810 and the 5lll intimately.
Almost every test where the two cameras were tested side by side ALL gave the 5lll the better all-around shooter title. Yes, the 810 had/has more mp and more DR but that was NOT enough. I refer you to the side-by-side comparison done by http://wwwDigitalCameraWorld.com/D810vs5Dlll . and they use all the data from DXO. Almost all real test said the same thing.
The 810 came out to try and make the Nikon video on par with the 5lll. It did not but it was close.
Fortunately there is a lot more to a camera than just mp.

And mark, if you think you can't part with your 70-200, there are dozens of lenses like that. Not to mention the super fast lenses, like the f1.0 and the super teles!!!

Agreed. This is why I'm not a big fan of the adapter either. However, let me put it this way... If I were just starting out (with no gear), and I was reviewing all my options, the Sony would be a serious consideration, if not a slam dunk, based on the type of photography I'm interested in.

On the other hand, if my only Canon 5D was stolen, and I wanted to replace it, the decision becomes more difficult. The adapter is a definite drawback, but it really depends how you are going to use the camera.

If you are primarily a landscape shooter, then the Sony with the adapter isn't really so bad. If you were a sports shooter, then it would probably be a show stopper for me---5fps is just not enough, and with the adapter it can only get worse.

Here's another review:

Regarding the 5DMIII vs. the D810 debate. I won't argue with you because I don't own either camera, so my opinions really get diluted. I can only go by what others have said and the online reviews (which are, as you know, biased). I realize MP is not the only thing that matters, but there is much more to the D810 than this. Regardless, I'd be happy with either the Canon 5DMIII or the Nikon D810 (leaning more towards the D810).

Happy shooting! :-) -Mark

Your opinion only.

No, it is mostly not opinion but facts.

The Sony A7rii can shoot up to ISO 102.000 the 5DS goes to max ISO 12800, that is a 3 stop difference in favor of Sony. No opinion here but fact and this is a difference that matters for many shooters. It has already been shown in many test that the max ISO that the A7rii delivers is very usable so this is no useless number.

The A7rii also has the in camera stabilizing vs lens stabilizing only for the Canon. This means that you can buy very fast glass, new or old like some f1.2 or 1.4 lenses and they are stabilized plus very fast plus the high ISO of the A7rii and you have a combo that beats everything else in low light. If you want to count in stops you can count 3 stops for the sensor, another 1-2 for the in camera stabilizing and then a little more for the cheap fast glass you can use so it is no exaggeration to say that you have easily 4-5 stops more in low light with the A7rii than the Canon 5Ds cameras. But of course, some of this is still unproved opinion.

And for the video people the Sony A7rii has 4k which Canon has not. That is not opinion but fact.

But of course it is an opinion that some Canon glass works as well or better on the A7rii than on Canon, but this is not an opinion I am inventing, I am just repeating what some respected people who are testing different combinations of cameras and lenses are stating. And you know, where there is smoke, there is fire. So this is quite interesting and I am sure we all would like to see some scientific test of this.

I was very impressed when Canon launched the 5Ds cameras and think they did a good job there, but I am more impressed about the A7rii from Sony and it is easy to see from specs and tests that Sony did even better with this new camera than Canon did with the 5Ds line. As far as I see the only thing Canon has over the Sony is more megapixels, but not to such degree that it makes it a big advantage. But that is truly my opinion. Maybe for you this makes all the difference that matters and then the 5Ds is without a doubt the better camera of those two for you.
