I kinda like the darker one better because it looks like the light is shining off his glasses. However, the lighter one would probally look better if I were to get it printed.

Try something inbetween the darkest and lightest... I like the darker one too but its just a tad too dark..... play around with it a bit......you can always go back to the original. Great picture though... I like it...... how about something like this?

I would take the darker image

select the boy

add a graduated layer lighten to darken top to bottom to emulate the wand's light on the boy.

I darkened it just a bit and deepened the contrast to bring out the Black and Red of his cloak. The starburt gives the look of performing magic, and we did not lose the reflection in his glasses.... I bet that boy has so much fun... he's got that younger Harry Potter look going for him...... what fun!!!!

Thank you for allowing me to suggest an edit for your photo

For me it was quite simple. I used Painthshop Pro x2 as my editing programm under the dropdown menu for Effects, there is a category called Illumination Effects and you have a choice of lights and/or sunbursts. You pick how many you want to use then slide the burst around, stretch it to get the look you want. You can also adjust the intensity of it. Basically a few fast clicks and ur done. I'm learning photoshop but still fall back to PaintShopPro x2 as its what I learned on and the quickest for me......(kind of like using auto on my camera occassionally) I do what works for ME... and yes I'm sure other programs can do this too. But this is how I got it done...... hope it works for you

Sorry, I see where you explained it now. New to the forum and still trying to figure out how to reply to a quote. It keeps putting my responces at the bottom of the forum. Thanks for the advice, I love it!
