Finally! OK, it's an immature eagle; but it's an eagle.

Fantastic! So glad you got to see.

This is possibly 2nd yr/3rd yr juvie as it has more white on body that those just fledged, like mine. Here is a good article (chart on page 3):

Thanks, Frodo. I can't take much cedit. All I did was open the window, point, and click!

Thanks, Linda, for the comment, information, and link. It seemed to me that this is one big bird for a "juvie". You can be sure I'm going to read the article you recommend.

Thanks, Gary. I was so focused on the eagle that I had no idea the RWBB was there until I got home and was getting ready to post the shot on the Hog. At first, I thought it must have been a part of the decorations on the post. Funny. You should have seen the double take I did when I saw it there.

When they start flying, they seem to be same size as the adults. At least that's how it appears with my canyon eagles :)

Several years ago, I was driving by a farm and saw a massive Red Tailed Hawk perched on wagon. Smaller than your juvie eagle but as far as RTH's go, she was a beast. I took some pics and e-mailed them out. A friends wife replied and said "That is one brave Baltimore Oriole". I had no idea what she was talking about so I went back and looked at the picture. Sure enough, perched right next to the hawk was a Baltimore Oriole. I was so amazed at the size of the hawk I missed it. Gary

Wow! Your first eagle how very exciting. There's not a feeling quite like it. I am very happy for you.
