Hmmm, interesting photo. For me, the dark areas around her mouth are slightly distracting as in black and white they look like they could be blood.

Great portrait, well done. When I finally drag myself from her eyes, I find everything makes me want to go back, but it all fits.

Hi Jon , although touching on the dark side I'm glad that is your interpretation,as that is why I called it empowered!

I absolutely am drawn to this image,Shine11 and its her eyes! So much is being said with those eyes and no words needed! She's just challenging whoever to say anything about what she's done! Love your work!

Shine, I do like this image. She has that look of innocence which most children do anyway. Her eyes is what draws me in. They are so huge. I just love them.

Three things I see. One is the crop. If you could, I would crop her to where there is more of a base of her upper body/neck, head. Not much just a little. Second is the texture. I would tone that down some. More so on the background. Third I would also darken the background some. Also, the lipstick around her mouth does not bother me. I feel that it adds to the image. Were it not there I don't think it would be as powerful as it is.

As far as your title ...... you have your reasons but I just don't see empowered here. As stated above she has the look of innocence. Like she has done something she wasn't suppose to and was caught. Worrying about the consequences. If empowered, was it because she was about to be over empowered?

Still, a good powerful image. Just out of curiosity, was this someone you personally know? Thanks and I hope this helps.

yes, dave its my godchild!...i have been experimenting with different subjects and styles...this one I was trying a comic sketch type style....hence the small shoulders...its not one of my favourites but enjoyed the challenge of getting the look i was after........

For me, it is a case of the process being the subject instead of the subject being the subject.

She is adorable with a fantastic expression, but the process overtakes the image. IMO, this is a case of "just because you can does not mean your should."

This deserves a much more classic look.
