If think it is hard to sell film cameras, try to get rid of a darkroom! Have a Beseler Dichro 67 with easels, color analyzer, tanks, timers, etc. Could not even donate it to the local college. Everything is sitting in my former darkroom (now just storage space) if only for sentimental reasons

I finally convinced them o get a divorce.
The enlarger stand is now a copy/macro stand (with a camera platform replacing the head.

El-nikkor being used as a reverse-mounted close-up lens.

The dichroic head went back into the coffin (original carton).

Great opportunity to reacquire all the cameras you ever owned (same models anyway). For nostalgia's sake or just to use for show and tell to your grandkids!

The Minolta and Leica lenses can both be used on Sony cameras with the right adapter. Put them up for sale or sell them to B+H.

Selling used film cameras to B&H is no great shakes either. They offered me $85 for my Canon F-1 and a 50mm 1.4 a 35mm 2.8 and a 135mm 2.8. I decided to keep them, They have more sentimental value to me than $85

It's a pity there's not a digital "converter" available that could be installed. There was a company that was working on a one piece set up that'd install as a regular roll of film and the sensor went behind the shutter where the film would go. Seemed like a great idea except I would think the sensor would have to be pretty thin to allow the door of the camera to be closed. I would imagine something like that should be pretty universal for any camera. I haven't heard anything from them so I don't think it went very far.

I have a Pentax LX with the "pancake" lens. Wonder if it's worth anything?

If he had lived close to me I would have taken them. I helped my sister with her garage sale and we sold 2 Canon AE-1's for $15. I wish I had taken one but felt I would have been cheating my sister of the money she deserved.

Those cameras are still functioning, see how many digital cameras will be functioning when they are 10, years old, let alone 30 years old

It makes me sad to see people complaining about the money they've "lost" on their old equipment. If you got many years of happy use with it, it wasn't lost. I have a good DSLR Nikon and a selection of lenses for it, I use it almost every day and I love it, but I still use my old Minolta XG1, the SLR I learned on. People who don't know the image they're looking at was produced by a film camera always remark on the richness of the photos it produces. The large photography stores and of course Amazon still carry many kinds of film, 35mm, medium format, and sheets, including new, experimental types. Want to try infrared photography without spending a lot of money on filters or converting your camera? Try infrared film! I get everything developed by mailing the rolls to The Darkroom in California. They charge $11 a roll (24 or 36 exp) which includes a mailing label, developing, scanning each negative and both putting them online so you can download them and sending you back a CD of the images and the negatives. You pay for the return shipping, about $4 - $5. The scans are flat and noisy, the higher the ISO the noisier they are. But a few basic post-processing moves and the information revealed in the image is amazing, like a raw file. Yes, it's more expensive than digital, it will never replace digital, but it's FUN and you keep your skills up.

Just an example of how hard it is to get any money for 35mm gear. Aside from a few brands and models they are about completely worthless. There's a Craigslist listing here in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA for 28 35mm bodies and 38 lenses for $300. It's been up for 4 days. The ad claims they are all clean and functional. The high cost of film and processing led me to get rid of my 35mm cameras. I finally threw away two Minolta 5 bodies (very advanced SLRs) and two Minolta zooms after I could not even get $25 for the lot.

With everything that's happening in digital these days, from phones to dslr cameras I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

I have 3 Minolta's a 101 and two 201's one the black model. I set them in a curio cabinet for a neat display case. I have a 70 to 205 I believe with a close focus macro. A nice setup but If I got a good price I might sell but I will probably keep them. I use to shoot for Fredric Oklahoma newspaper and developed. I rolled my own film and get 70 pictures to a roll. It was all B/W developing. I never got into color developing. I would if I would like to learn. I sure love the Minolta. It's a shame they didn't get into digital. I saw a nice Sony but don't know how the Sony's brand is worth looking into. I like the size and weight of the Sony. I am saving for one of the grey Canon lenses I think it was the f 2.8. I couple bucks for a disabled person to get. Thanks guys for the response to the photographer that started this question. I need a lot of the questions on the Hog. If it was in the school I would be in the 2nd grade. You guys and gals are wise and very helpful.

Sony bought out minolta. The Minolta auto focus lens mount is the same as the Sony A mount.

A seller's description of a film SLR as being "clean and functional" doesn't really mean much if the camera has not been touched for the last 30-some years, sitting in the back of a closet. Chances are, the shutter needs a lubrication job to be reliable and accurate again, and all light seals replaced. Cameras that are advertised as recently overhauled usually sell much more quickly and at higher prices than those which have not been serviced. Film camera shoppers generally prefer a camera they can use immediately without investing further money and effort.

A lot of times schools and Scouts, Boy and Girl, can sometimes use film cameras. The cameras themselves are cheap and the use of film is sometimes a requirement for the classes and badge requirements. You might want to check into giving away your cameras, both film and older working digitals, to them since they could probably use them.

I don't want to get any money for mine. I just want to keep getting good negatives.

I look at the picture and among the 28 of them. A lot of Minolta but no Maxxum 7 or 9, no Minolta XD-11 or XE-7. There is a Nikon but none of the F series or even FE , FM or Nikkormat. Not even an Olympus OM series.

Minolta XE-7 and XD-11 remain valuable if in excellent condition. XG series not so much. SRTs are excellent, though not worth much money.

What are you selling?
