Anyone know of a nice place to camp. Like to just relax, and of course maybe some pics. Maybe a small lake for our paddle boat. I live in the Piedmont but don't mind traveling a little. Just have a pop-up camper.

Creekwood is nice. Although it has been a few years since we have been there , we remember it as being clean, well organized and friendly. A pop up camper would probably be assigned a shady spot along the creek. Asheville is a half hour drive away, and so is Smoky Mtns NP. Cherokee and its casino is perhaps a 40 minute scenic drive.

I'm sure you will enjoy Creekwood. A good suggestion.

One of the prettiest places to camp in our state is the Bear Den Campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Old age stops me from telling you the mile marker to look for but it was a few miles North of the Apple Orchard overlook which is a few miles North of the Little Switzerland turnoff. It has no sign because they are not allowed on the parkway but if they are still in business you should be able to find a phone number for them. Might even be able to call the Chamber of Commerce at Little Switzerland or even Marion to find the number. We stayed there for years before we got too old to camp any more.

I would also recommend Turkey Creek just outside of Bryson City. It's just down the hill from the Nantahala Gorge and just around the corner from the Little Tennessee River. There are supposed to be some good waterfalls nearby but I haven't had the time to find them.
