Sherri, the fact that you didn't edit those shots, and they came in that nice, says you've got some serious potential. The second one with the single shot shows the best definition, but who can take the fact that you got 3 birds pirched on the feeder, with 2 more coming?
Many bird watchers and amature photographers rarely get ONE hummer, let alone 5 in a single shot.
I know I commented on these 2 pics earlier, but I felt that you deserve credit that you didn't clean these pics up in any way and they still came out nice.

I use a Nikon D300 with a 300 mm zoom lens even though none of the shots where more than 5 to 10 yards away.

Great shots, I have alot of hummers in my backyard, but I cannot seem to get a good shot. What were your settings? thanks

yes your absolutely right about changing the background my goal for this year was to move the feeders closer to the flowers but we did not get any flowers this year due to the drought (texas) so im stuck with plain stuff but will look into the editing program you suggested sounds good .
I'm adding a couple more hummer photo's ,
i did catch these two in the pouring rain as i stood on my porch and watched them heading over to drink the nectar , the heavy down poor from last year did not stop these two at all they jsut kept flying around and drinking it was so cool to watch them .

well i thank you very much for your comments i truly feel the way you described how i captured them in the camera , im more of a natural amature photographer and would dearly love to change the background but when i see that i know its not real but yes i know sometimes its better like your hummer with the flowers that to me fits and thats another thing i have to learn to do .
I'm getting htere with my new SLR i hope to improve even more.

HI Barbara,
The photos were last year , it was great weather compared to now. What i did was try not to invade the space i crack open my screen door about 6 inches they knew i was there but kept coming anyhow and i also sat on my steps with camera pointed there way , i put my camera on silence so they couldnt here the shutter go off and stood there sometimeor sat for some timeand hand held or had camera on a monopod but hand held mostly cause i liked to follow them around as much as i could . I was about 6 feet away from the feeder and loved every minute of it , if you dont make any sudden movements the will come back , i also observed them for a few days to see waht there patterns where . You just have to be ready and shoot on continuous if you have it . This year has not been so good due to the heat im hoping befor they take off for the season that i'lll get some more shots which i think i will. Just keep watching your and see how they act and where they go if you sit sort of still they will come around and probably buzz you but dont worry theyre harmless .

I agree with Dennis, the feeders look like the subject with the hummers showing up. Some cropping may help. There were some many hummers, it is hard to comment and keep them straight however the hummer with his tongue out is outstanding, some of the hummers on flowers are really good or great but some are out of focus or not clear. All in all, I enjoy seeing these photos.
