OK, so on a serious note, why don't the states just come up with civil union laws that treat heterosexual and homosexual couples the same... There is no reason whatsoever that people of the same sex should not be afforded the same protections and accommodations under the law... just take marriage out of it, to be honest the state has no interest or stake in marriage. Marriage to the state is nothing more than a civil contract, the states need to stop using the word marriage and maybe we can get beyond this debate.

I imagine he was playing on people saying that about people who hate Obama but with Blurry I'm never sure. He's smart enough but he still frequently comes from left (or in his case maybe right) field. I must be at least as British as he is.

If I understand you correctly, you are suggesting that the Government not use the word marriage for anybody hetero or homo. I don't see what could be wrong with that but I'm guessing that a lot of people on at least your side, maybe both sides won't like it and you'll never be able to pass it but again, it works for me.
