Does Perfect Effects 9 run independent of lightroom or can it be downloaded or moved from the desktop into it?

I have it on my desktop but could have sworn I watched a video where it was installed directly into lightroom on the left side panel under navigation.

If lightroom is installed and closed when Perfect Effects gets installed, it recognizes lightroom and offers to link it. If you agree, it should be accessible under file/plug in extras or under photo/edit in. Not under navigation that I've ever seen.

Perfect Effects 9 should be available in Lightroom under the Edit menu (upper LH corner): Edit>Plug-in Extras>Perfect Effects 9...Ken

Correct - it is installed as a plugin, not as an item under navigation.

so everytime I want to use it from light room I have to go to plug in extras??? and I can only get one photo in there at a time? with a zillion different effects?
hmmmm I swear it looked like I could access it differently. maybe what I saw was the whole SUITE???

im pretty sure it was in a file called presets...
I was watching something on creative live and they gave the free link...UGH.

THANKS at least I can find it now :-)
Im sure it will keep me busy for a while.
Im amazed at what a click can do.

Yes, you have to access it one photo at a time using one of those methods and work on it one photo at a time. What it sounds like you're describing are the free lightroom presets that you get when you are an On1 customer. THOSE show up beneath the navigation panels and you can use them like you'd use any lightroom preset. Using them does NOT launch any of the On One applications, it just uses those presets within Lightroom. You do have to download and install those things separately from the On1 suite. They send something new out every month.

Yes Minnie your right. I downloaded for free perfect effects 9 from on1 and have viewed a bunch of tutorials which would indicate I should be able to import the presets into the develop module into presets, in lightroom and open them right there but I cant seem to do it. I get just so far and when the tutorial says I should see a window that says import I don't.

From the on One site: (I don't know much about windows)
Windows

1. Please Download and unzip the presets file and open the resulting folder.

2. In this folder you will find the presets, they are the files with the .lrtemplate extension.

3. Open Lightroom

4. In the top menu bar choose Edit>Preferences

5. There will be a new window that appears. Select the Presets tab.

6. Click on the button labeled “Show Lightroom Presets Folder.”

7. In the new Explorer window that appears open the ‘Lightroom’ folder, and then open the ‘Develop Presets’ folder. Copy and Paste the presets folder into this location.

8. Restart Lightroom, the presets can be found in the Presets section on the left in the Develop module.

The file path for the necessary location of the .lrtemplate Presets folder:

Mac: Macintosh HD\Users\<username>\Library\Application Support\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets

Windows: Computer\[C:]\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets

Not pm yet, let's see how far we can get. I don't know windows. Someone will. If not, post on PP forum looking for windows person. Did you download the LR preset file? Can you find it?

I use it both ways. I can open it as a stand alone or use it as a plug in. More often than not, I use it as a plug in via LR5. I'll add that I think it is a great program.

I think what she's really trying to do is install and use those free LR presets they offer. I'm trying to help but don't know windows. If you do, I'm sure she'd appreciate any help. I posted the instructions but I can't explain them, Mac only here.
