Running CS6 & PS/LR CC side by side

Is anyone running running "CS6" & "PS/LR CC" side by side?

I use CS6 and within it run 5 of the available modules. Everyday ACR/PS & or LR5 are used extensively. Illustrator, InDesign,Fireworks and Acrobat X are used but not enough to warrant going to CC versions. So, is anyone running PS & LR CC and also running CS6 on their machines at the same time? Any issues before I reluctantly go by way of PS CC. According to what I've read, you can...but can't find any info regarding sharing files. Or more so if I decide to stop the subscription for CC, will I still have full use of CS6. (aside from backwards compatibility, I do know if CS6 didn't have certain features, a CC file won't work) and If I do something in CC, can I send it back to, for example InDesign or Illustrator etc., etc..

I run a large mixture of old and new (I use the old software for teaching), and have not come across any incompatibility problems.

PS CC2014
PS CC
PS CS2
PS7

PSE 9,11,12

Illustrator 8
Illustrator CS2

Lightroom 4 and 5

I cannot open 2 instances of Photoshop simultaneously, nor two instances of PSE, nor 2 instances of Lightroom, but other than that, all play happily together.

PS CC2014 is now quite different from CS6, but the files are backwards compatible. (I can open and work files created in PS CC2014 in PS 7, which must be about fifteen years old).

If you cancel the cloud version of PS, CS6 will still live on.

Minor correction, or maybe clarification, Searcher.
No, you cannot open two copies of PSE at the same time, but you can open two versions of PSE at the same time.
It used to be that you had to open the older version first, then the newer one, but now (if I remember correctly, starting with version 12) it no longer matters.

Just been playing around, I can open PSE 9 and 11, or 9 and 12, but not 11 and 12, nor all three.

To push it further, I stopped all Adobe services from running and that added 11 and 12. If one of the Organisers is running in the background, then its back to one version only.

The trouble is that this computer is chock full of graphics programs of one kind or another: GIMP, Portrait Pro, Turbocad, Paint Shop Pro (very old), Capture NX-D, CZM, ElementsPlus, FastStone etc etc.. collisions are probably inevitable. There are another fifteen programs on board all using graphics and dealing with imaging.

An additional computer is sorely needed to handle all of them.

It is interesting though that I can open two versions of PSE now, which I did not know prior to your post.

So, I didn't post in vain ;^)
Time to start saving your pop- and beer-bottles, Searcher, and return them to the store for deposit money.
I'm doing that for a still-to-be-released lens right now. Sometimes wish the boys were still at home, they always brought their friends home and on Saturday and/or Sunday morning I sometimes found quite a harvest of beer-bottles in the backyard. Now they're all married and living elsewhere, but rumour has it that their wives are doing the harvesting...

Thanks Searcher....kind of what I figured and hoping someone would confirm as you did......I only have 2 hands so running on one computer at a time is enough to handle, LOL...I will be installing on two computers but only running one at any given time...I guess I'll download PS & LR CC and give it a test drive. Thanks again.

Maybe you know this before I call Adobe...Will CS6 remain in my account with Adobe should I ever need to reinstall CS6? I'm planning on two new machines within 6 months.

In vain? It's always good to have your input, especially if I am not being factually correct.

Alas, in the UK bottles are not returnable. We pretend to be green but you know what they say about grass being greener on the other side . . .

I have some CS6 applications - including photoshop, premiere and aftereffects. I installed CC for Photoshop and LR - and no issues. I can still go back and use my CS6 apps, right along side the CC apps.

Thanks Gene, Yeah everything seems fine, my big concern was with bringing CC created files back to CS6 AI, ID and FW. I see they (Adobe) separated Bridge from PS, I assume is a freebee? Did you migrate your LR5 Cats to CC or start fresh?
Haven't decided on that yet.

You're right, Bridge is free. As far as the LR catalog is concerned, I just opened the older LR 4 catalog with LR 5 a while ago - so when I loaded the LR that came with CC there were no issues at all. LR catalogs are not backwards compatible - but a DNG, PSD, TIFF or JPEG are totally backwards compatible, as far as I know.

I do not run CS6, I use CS5 ext. and also use Illustrator. I have no issues using either files in either program.
