Architecturally, it is very easy to overdo the "Painted Lady" look on a Victorian.
Is outside finish considered part of architecture rgrenaderphoto? I thought it had more to do with physical construction and materials used, not necessarily colors (as in paint or stain).

The city where I love is a study in opposites - literally within blocks of each other, we have absolutely gorgeous architecture in the Historic District with houses that are kept in pristine condition - and yet a few streets away, things are not so.

The colors of paint on this house remind me of some I have seen in the city of New Orleans, which is why I stopped to photograph it in the first place. And while I did a credible job of bringing out the colors, Lynne looked at it once and said "How tacky! It's a shame they would do that to such a beautiful house.

I have heard the comment here that PP is used to cover up a bad photograph. If anyone is so inclined, you have my permission to download this picture, apply a thick coating of Neon Glow (or any other effect) and upload to this thread. Have fun!

I believe the colors fit the era in which the house was built.

Bob, I like this shot and the way you processed it. Yes, it is different, color wise that is, but I still like it. It sure is not the same old same old.

Tasteful, to my eye.

I like things that are colorful and the colors imho are not outlandish.

I think it's OK actually, just as you would expect to see in the US.

I think it's a beautiful old home just the way it is!

Not too tacky for my tastes. I live in a 3 story old house (116 years old). You just can't beat the architecture of these old homes.

Not quite as tacky in black and white.

Without the purple it's not a bad looking house.

Bob

Having grown up in New Orleans, the paint scheme looks rather subdued.

It looks like a beautiful old Victorian home painted in true Victorian colors. I love the home and the photo, the homeowner might like a copy.
