As to what Christians do, or don't do, as opposed to others, let me say this: Yes, Christians do kill people, sometimes for a good reason (self-defense) or a not good reason--out and our murder, or simply by accident, as in a car crash, for example.

What occurred in the Medieval times and during the Inquisition, many atrocities were committed, not by Christians, but by those who felt they were acting in the best interests of the Catholic Church which, at the time, ruled most countries. I don't mean to denigrate the Catholic Church, but that is the way it was. It wasn't until the Reformation, started by Martin Luther that there was a move away from the Catholic Church by some, and so the so-called Protestant denominations and churches came into being. Don't confuse Christians with religion and religiosity. Going to church doesn't make one a Christian anymore than attending the movies makes one a movie actor.

So what does Jesus have to do with all of this? His message was plain and simple, as it merely called for the individual to form a personal relationship with God, through Him. And to pave the way to salvation He gave up his own life so that we don't have to. It remains a personal choice.

It also amazes me that people decry the Bible as a collection of myths and the figures mentioned in the Bible as fictional characters, when there is historical documentation regarding the Bible, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and others, which are the foundation for validating the Bible as true. Furthermore, it has been stated that people such as Josephus couldn't have had all the "facts" in place because Jesus died before he was born. I rather imagine that, being the scholar that Josephus was, he went about gathering his fact carefully before writing them down to become permanent. And what about the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John? Those four men knew Jesus personally, so I'd guess they did have their facts in order. It doesn't matter that none of them wrote their books until a few years after Jesus' death and resurrection. It remains that they were eye witnesses and felt it necessary to communicate to others what they had seen and experienced.

So it amazes me that people of today can write opinion and for some reason it's regarded as fact, when, in fact, their information is based on writings hundreds or thousands of years old! I fail to see how that can be any more relevant than documents written at the time the events occurred.

Jesus (presumed) born on Dec 25th who began his ministry at the age of 30 had changed the world. So what if Newton was born on Dec 25 and had made a discovery. His discovery did not change the world. He discovered something that Jesus already knew about - it was Jesus who was the greatest physicists and mathematicians of all time. After all, it was Jesus who created the heavens and the Earth and without a doubt, gave Newton the clues to his discoveries.

The heavens and earth were created long before Jesus was born, so it is unlikely that Jesus had anything to do with it.

Newton, not Jesus, came up with the theory of gravity, and contrary to what you say, Newton did change the world.

John & Dennis....you're right, of course. Another commonly accepted explanation for the Dec. date is that early church leaders wanted to counter the pagan celebration of Winter Solstice and decided that competition was the best approach so created the arrangement we know today. In any event, illogical thinking has allowed some nut jobs to declare that Christmas is a "made up holiday like Kwanzaa", said while defending the absolute artificial creation of the latter, only because the date of Dec. 25 is arbitrary. The historical event of Christmas, however, is not made up.

Polar cap is growing in this global warming. How if it is warmer?

Typical of the deniers. A snappy sound bite which sounds scientific --- if you know the science.

Water freezes when several conditions are present, ONE of which is that it must be below 32F. From you r comment, you seem to think its the only one AND that it's a sliding scale -- Some freezes at 30F, more freezes at 10F, still more at -10F etc -- but no. That's not the way it works. Once it falls below 32F, the temperature is irrelevant. Then other factors come into play. In this case, wind. Change in the wind patterns, change in the ice formation. (And global warming causes changes in wind patterns)

I have already said too much. The company I worked for was a very honorable and treated me well. They are known for their contributions to science. The people are human and are driven to turn a profit. The government provided grants that were to lucrative to turn down.

Let me give you another example. I knew a man who was an accountant for "American Chiclet" Chewing Gum company. He told me every year they would give grants to various collages to prove that chewing gum is good for you. Year after years the schools would submit their report stating, they could find no health benefits to chewing gum. The company would thank them and the next year do the same thing with another school. A couple of years ago I read that a school said that chewing gum is good for you. I thought of the conversation I had with that accountant. Does this really surprise you?

I will provide this link that I found on the Internet:

I'm not a man of faith. That out of the way I know that it's possible you may be telling the truth. You understand the problem I have taking you at your word. If you are telling the truth it would seem that your employers are not honorable people.

Assuming that everything you say is true how does it automatically follow that global warming is a hoax.

FYI for those who missed the irony, Newton was a very devout Christian. I do believed he even wrote a book on the end times. :D
