Thank you. If I go full frame I HAVE to go used. I would probably buy form MT Shooter or KEH. I am taking a trip to Iceland in Feb to shoot auroras so it has been suggested that I try very hard to find a full frame that I can afford.

FWIW, I took a Nikon 1 mirrorless to Iceland and shot the auroras. They weren't in full dress regalia during my visit (and I've known people who've been as many as seven times and NEVER seen them), but the shots I took were "acceptable."

I am hoping we don't get seriously skunked. But we are going to be there for a weeks so hopefully the skies will cooperate.

if you haven't figured out what camera fits your needs by now, flip a coin and don't look back.

the way to go is the fuji xe1 with 18-55mm lens. but you will not get good video. you are asking for a lot under 1000 dollars and so there are trade offs

I am finally ready to buy that new camera I have been talking about for over a year. NOTHING should get in the way this time. MT Shooter recommended the D7000 a year ago. I can find the bodies around $600.00
I need to keep it under $1,000. I want live view and video options. Something that does will under low light conditions with minimal noise.

Suggest you do your own independent research rather than exclusively rely on a site like this one.

Not to worry. This is not the only place I am seeking advice. But if you talk to the right people on this forum you can get advice that is worth much more than a google search.

I know I am. I have actually decided to go with a D600 that Carter has. It is out of my budget, but should do what I want it to do. I want to stick with Nikon as all my equipment is Nikon and both daughters shoot Nikon.

If you are interested, I have a D7100 here that was traded in on a D750 2 weeks ago. Less than 2000 clicks on it, looks like new, in the box with everything that came with it from the factory. $895 shipped to your door.

This is a good deal, MT will not steer you wrong.

CountryMama, I think this is a very good offer. The D7100 is a great camera.

I know it is a very good deal. But as Carter has pointed out it really isn't going to do what I need it to do. I am biting the bullet and going a few steps up and buying the full frame.

That is a great deal. If I didn't already have a D7100, I would buy it myself.

Yes, but a Mercedes is worthless if you need a Jeep.
Many cameras are purpose specific and for what the OP wants to do a crop sensor camera will not be technologically sufficient.

For high ISO with minimal noise, you would be better off with a full-frame camera. Consider a D600, 610 of D750.

I have a couple of D700's low actuation's (less than 20K) with battery grip I am thinking of selling for a little more than $1000.00 maybe $1350.00

I love them both. For me my 7100 is much better than my 7000. Both are excellent . I use the 7000 for the grandkids sports since the buffer dosnt fill as fast as the 7100 does. I enjoy them both.
