It is plastic. Can it be glued?

Make a report to seller of damage in shipping. Chances are, they will send new one to you, without requiring return of damaged original.

It is pretty bad. Broke out the whole top. I taped it just to get a few shots. I really like the looks it is giving me. And I'd like to thank you for pointing me to it. I am waiting for a return email from them.

I hate when that happens!

Interesting flowers. I want to see more DOF.

I got Janny a whole basket full of flowers knowing the O Flash was coming. Oh well, she loves them :-D . It only took a few days to get here. Maybe they will send a new one without all the hassle.
On a side note: Do you think the SB900 is to much flash for this?

No. It is overkill, but you already owned one, so no need to spend more coin. On back of my SB-600, I set to shoot manual output (1:1). If too bright for light-colored subject, I drop down to 1:2 or 1:4 light output. You should have similar controls for SB-900.

This one that I have is for my SB800. Was just wondering if the SB900 would be better for close ups and the 800 for micro. Seems like the 900 would push the light out farther. For flowers in groupings. And for $40, that is cheap lighting. With my 28-300 I can keep farther back and get some good framing, but right now the lighting outside sucks here. Either to bright or none. What distance do you think you can shoot and get good light from it?

I now understand your question. I have no idea how much more powerful an SB-900 (with O-Flash) would be over an SB-800 (with O-Flash).

I have set my SB-600 to 85-degrees, the narrowest output. I have no idea if it really makes any difference.

Thanks Doug, When I get one back from them I will do a light meter test a different distances and see if I can tell the difference between the two. I think that should work. If this one wasn't so broken up I would play with it, but I am afraid to do more damage.

Hi Bunny Jean
I have been saving for a ring light to put on my lens for micro. Was looking at a big price for that. The O-Flash was only $40. With just a few shots I did tonight with it, I am very happy. Was just hard trying to hold it together and shoot :-D Doug is the one that showed me his. And I saw the great shots he has been getting.

With the flash so far behind front of lens do you get any shadows when up as close as you can get?

I didn't play with it to much, thought it would break more. I did take about 30 shots with it and everyone came out pretty nice. That was my 70-180 micro zoom. I also have the 105 to use too. They emailed me back this morn. and ask for pictures of it. So I think they are going to be good to deal with.
