Was intrigued when I noticed the dress in the window. The old lodge was boarded up and abandoned. I can't help but wonder what's the story behind "The Dress in the Window". Simply forgotten and left behind or there for a message. Perhaps a private message for us not to know. What say you and does the photo arouse any emotion?

Was there last weekend couldn't find out anything about the dress..Everything in the area was closed for the season so no one to ask..Did go inside and look around took some photos..everything is a mess inside..think someone has been using it as a hang out..

You should have more luck then...I really love that building wish I could buy it and fix it up ..O'well I can always dream can't I. I want to do back soon and take a riverboat tour of the Plantations..Think that would be fun and I could get some good photos out of it too

For those that visit the Murrells Inlet area and have enjoyed The Marshwalk nearby to this site, some sad news...

MI fixture and Marshwalk anchor restaurant Dead Dog Saloon burned down in the early morning hours Wed.

DD owner Charlie Campbell is a very nice guy and has always done a lot for the community.
He plans to rebuild but in the meantime DD will be missed.

Two things strike me:

1.) The story. The dress in the window gives the picture some "aha" moment that we strive for.

2.) The lighting. It's definitely sunset or sunrise and that really lights the house nicely.

Interesting pic because of these two things.

Talk about ruining a moment for me! :)

You just took my "aha filled" and intriguing "dress in the window of the abandoned house" image and brought it back to reality with these shots!...

I had so many things made up in my mind on how the dress got there and how mysterious the house was....but now...it's just an abandoned house full of trash with a dress in the window...

Sort of like when you have this made up story for the lyrics to a Beatles song and then you find out what the lyrics REALLY mean and they aren't nearly so mysterious and meaning-filled....lol....

:)

Bev, Was the house unlocked and open for anyone to enter? Such a sad state of neglect and abandonment. The dress looks like it has a veil hanging with it so I think it may have been part of a wedding dress. Thanks for the pictures. O.

Hate to hear about the fire. Thanks for informing. Have eaten at DD and as you say it will be missed.

Maybe the ghost that lives there forgot to hang it up.
