I am considering signing on to the Adobe cloud, primarily to use Photoshop. Would welcome comments on the wisdom/folly of this.

I thought putting Windows 8 on my new computer was wise move till my internet provider had a failure - nothing on my computer would open as 'I had to be online' took two weeks to fix......Will go back to Window 7

Moral...buy the software and keep it on a local network. can't see there being much difference between the last photoshop on disk and the cloud version. PLUS your pics get stored on the cloud if you don't stop it (Same with Win 8 - another good reason to change it)

If your computer crashes you can re-install if s%$t happens in the cloud or the terms change....?

Its early days so I think I would wait a little while and see how things progress

George

I use PS CC since Dec 2013. Not a single problem. Upgraded to full suite, still no problem.

Being on line all the time to use PS and other programs is BS. You do need one contact per month (30 days). You can also get a 90 days in some circumstances.

Note the US prices are interesting if not great but for someone abroad I would look at it more closely.

Adobe CC is NOT in the cloud. You download the programs on your choice of multiple PC's and work on the program from your PC, not from the cloud. Adobe verifies that you are current on your subscription via the internet only on a periodic basis.

The difference between CS6 and the newest PS14, to me, is well worth the subscription model. The immediate upgrades and capabilities are hands down great, but to each their own.

You save your files on the drive you select, it DOES NOT automatically go to the cloud unless you specify that as your storage option.

The misconception that everything on PS is in the cloud only and you can't access anything or lose your files unless you are paid up and connected persists. Research for yourself and learn the truth, not second hand rumors.

I agree about Windows 8, I am staying with Windows 7 because it works well and who knows with a new OS? There have absolutely been some clunkers with every other release.

Adobe has also announced that the $9.99 for photographers bundle is a permanent price.

Yep. I'm beginning to think that all of the backlash and negative response to CC is due to misinformed people that dream up all kinds of dystopian conspiracy theories upon hearing the word "Cloud". That single word may cause more false hysteria than any other word I can think of.

It amazes me that as long as Adobe's Creative Cloud has been out that many people who know absolutely nothing about it will espouse what ever passes through their brains as facts.

It works fine and the price is right. No folly at all. CC2014 is great fun and quite a bit better than the last perpetual license of CS6.

You are uninformed as to how CC works. Suggest you read the Adobe website to get motr accurate information.

My objection is not the product, which is an incremental upgrade to CS6 and a switch to html panels which renders my favorite plug-in inoperative, it's the pay-forever rental which is a slippery slope for all software.

And permanent price? Nothing is permanent in the greedy world of profits.

Totally WRONG info here - WHERE did you get these ideas you are talking about?

I have Adobe CC, I bought into the photographers package for 9.99 a month.... NOTHING runs off of or is stored in "the cloud", nothing, unless I choose to store it there.

The programs are DOWNLOADED and installed on MY Mac, My photographs are stored on MY Mac. ZIP, ZILCH, NADA, NOTHING is stored on "the cloud" unless I specifically choose to store items in the cloud.

As long as I connect at least once every 30 days to the internet (by the way I am connected 24x7 anyway) my Adobe software loads and runs fine.

I subscribe to the cloud and love it. All of the software resides on my computers and all of my files are also on my computers. The only communication with the cloud is for updates and once a month verification of payment. Everything else is on the computers. It works flawlessly and great. I even have my images from 2 machines living on an NAS 4TB drive. (this was a little problematic until I figured out that I had to create a starter folder on the NAS drive to put things in.)

My opinion of Adobe CC ?

$10.00 a month and access to really great photography apps installed and running on MY computer - how can anyone argue with that? ;)

I agree completely. Dumbest marketing move Adobe EVER made was to use "Cloud" with their product. Causes more brain freezes than ice cream on a hot summer afternoon.

It's all a matter of personal preference. I happen to like it. Ten dollars a month, in the real world, is chump-change. Two cups of coffee in London or Paris.
