What a terrific idea. You are very talented & creative.
What a great idea? I always enjoy seeing other folks creativity.
How about adding a mini-turbine with roller bearings so that the heat from the bulb will cause the shade to rotate ... giving more view time to your photos any where in the room without walking around the lamp.
Here's a rough idea of the blades I'm thinking about:

steaming that cherry wood to make all the legs the same is no easy trick,
JC, you're right, upon closer inspection, I can see steam coming of those legs!

Wow! Impressive creative abilities!!
Nice piece. What wattage are the lamps to keep the heat low?
Nice concept. Nicely executed.
Way cool How did you drill for the cord?

Thanks for reply. I do have a daylight florescent bulb 3 way in it.
Still puts out harmful light that may fade your images.
Saw a video, showed making a lamp shade from wood.
Wood piece was 14 - 16 inches in diameter and 12 - 14 inches long. Attached to a turning frame "scooped" out the inside, using a light to gauge thickness. Wood grain made a beautiful shade!
Your idea is and looks great.
the base of the lamp was made from some cherry scraps given to me by a woodworking friend.
I like it lots.
