Served in military, no. Seen combat? I worked as a surgical resident in Metropolitan Hospital in NYC. ("Spanish Harlem") I guess we didn't as many gunshot and shrapnel wounds there as they do in Kandahar, but let's just say we were very familiar with combat casualties. Every night was a parade of gunshot and other wounds. Violence in the ER was not uncommon either. Have been punched, kicked etc. Seen more combat than the average bear.
