Has any one used this lens, and what are your thoughts and evaluation of it?

For comparison purposes, I have used a Raynox DCR-250 with various lenses. It does a decent job, but does not have the corner-to-corner high-resolution sharpness of a purpose-designed macro lens. The Raynox DCR-250 is a 2.5x compound (2-group, 3-element) lens that attaches to the front of nearly any lens. http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/dcr/dcr250/indexdcr250eg.htm

I have it and use it with a Canon S5IS. It is okay for coins and smaller bugs, but not for anything that you need distance on (at all). Violets, vinca, and other small flowers are okay, roses, peonies, etc., forget it. The corners are very soft. I did copy yearbook photos (circa 1960) and made 3x4" name tags for a reunion with them, but it required extensive PP in order to do it.
