Good news for Windows 8

Here are a couple of segments from an article that should make some people happier about Windows 8

Microsoft Windows 9 Will Reportedly Come in 3 Flavors

Microsoft's Windows 8 is approaching its second birthday and the terrible twos. Even though Windows 8.1 was a major update, the OS is still an albatross around the company's neck, according to many users. To remedy that Redmond is reportedly working on a new take on its operating system, called Windows 9, or Windows Threshold, which will address many complaints. Among other things, that includes offering three different versions of the OS for desktop, 2-in-1 and mobile users.

Windows 9 isn't expected to make its first appearance until later this fall. Until then, you'll have to contend Windows 8.1, downgrade to Windows 7 or switch to Mac. via: ZDNet

I would put more fact in this article than some of the comments I have heard on hear about how fantastic Windows 8 is. This appear to be based on more honest fact than someones personal opinion.

:)

Microsoft Dropping the start button was really a bad idea & that's what most people hate about it.

I liked the speed it booted up and shut down, other than that normal operation was inconstant at best and I found it too annoying to contend with. I use win 7 for my CAD software and all other things are now done on my new MAC Pro laptop. Nice thing about it at least right out of the box it has been totally trouble free.

Microsoft tends to release a quirky/wonky version of windows every other time/release So, Windows 9 should be great. Windows 8 isn't bad, it's just a departure from a standard we've gotten used to over the last couple of decades.

Must be as in pain as Microsoft did not develop it in a painstakingly manner. :)

Microsoft has a habit of introducing OS before they are fully tested and letting the customer use, & test for them.

Remember the successive releases for upgrades to XP, Vista and Win8.0? There were two for XP, Vista came in several editions--I never had a problem with 'Home", but I've heard horror stories of the other two; Win8 was a disaster from the get go and 8.1 wasn't much better. I finally uninstalled it and went back to Win 7 Pro--works great.

Suggetion: IMHO, when the new OS comes out, let them sell it and fix it for a year or more and see just how good it is or isn't; then make a decision to upgrade. Rebuilding your photo files after a crash or freeze-up is a task best avoided! :D

Evolve or die. Adapt or fall behind....
Win8 is different and weird compared to the last 20 years of Windows. But it's very stable, fast, doesn't crash & works well with games and everything else. A lot of people & companies stuck with XP (never even moved to win7) until the bitter end- Now they're being forced to Win7. But, it's better to just make the leap to 8 & learn the new technology and adapt to the changes. You might be surprised how good it actual is. This is only my Humble Opinion based on working for 30 years in IT.

Our IT department disagrees about how good it is . Under their test they remain with Windows 7.

As would I. Can you imagine deploying a radically different OS like 8 to a couple hundred users? Plus there are compatibility issues with vertical apps and proprietary applications. No way would I deploy Win8
