Its a simple enough process.
Set camera on tri pod, compose your shot. Use manual setting to hold the exposure once set. This is a shot composed from two images and the exposure being exactly the same on both shots is a big help.
Take a shot in aperture priority, then transfer the settings.
First shot, set the subject up on a ladder, a box what ever, pose and capture. Leave camera in exact same spot, remove ladder, box or anything else not desired in final image. Take another shot.
Put both images into layering program. I use perfect layers.
Remove the unwanted stuff. It's a fun process. But sitting cross legged on the top of a 13 ft step ladder taking a selfie, at my age. What ever you do be careful out there.
