this guy lived in an azelia bush all summer,i would check up on him about every other day.one day he was gone,i was sad to see her gone.tom

Most likely a female Yellow & Black Orb Weaver (Argiope aurantia).

yes,i'm sure it was a female because she had an egg sack about a foot from her web.it was about the size of a quarter when the little spiders came out they were so small i didnt see them at first.then a big rain and a freeze the next day.i wonder if any lived.tom

Maybe if you had fed her a few males she would have stayed? Nice photo. 8-)
